Lizard gone fat?

It's no secret that Porsche Motorsport is spending considerable energy and resources developing the 918 as well as a new Le Mans prototype. Could it be that RSR development is suffering as a result? Or, perhaps Porsche has literally taken the 997 platform as far as it can go, and it is time for a whole new car? In any event, do not give up hope just yet. Again, some bad luck for the Lizards so far this season.

I bet one of the reasons the 991 'balanced' design is here is for the homologation of a competition RSR based on that more 'balanced' platform - longer WB, wider front track. I think that chassis will perform great.
I am not a 991 fan, because I love the original 911 dynamics, which although tamed and dialed back on a 997, it is still there. But... for motorsports, where all-out performance is the goal, it makes sense.
On that vein... the future 991 GT3/RS cars will be awesome performers, although less 911, IMO.

Well ... Laguna Seca ALMS 2012 is in the histroy book and another painful race to watch for the Porsche crowd. None of the RSR was competitive with M3, Vette or Ferrari and left in the back and the only competitor Jörg Bergmeister get to fight with is the lone bumble bee in his cabin. Yanking off gurney flaps on the last pit stop and runnig over airhose did not help and it's just pouring salt on the wound.
The hard charger award to the Corvette should be between the RSR and Vette .... but this time it's the M3 that got the boot at T2
ALMS need to allow more air into RSR engine and Seth need to look around his race team and shake things up ... all is not well.
