Default Sport button not working

Well it appears that my Sport button isn't working currently. I can't pinpoint the exact date that it wasn't working but within the last two weeks I noticed I am not getting that extra "oomph" my sharkwerks bypass used to give me, with the engine under load, sport button on or off.

It was working when the car came out of hibernation this year though...

Any tips on something I can check (fuse?) or do to fix the issue. I've heard the solenoid valves can be temperamental. Possibly a should do the trick.

Thanks guys..

its probably the solenoids... you should be able to hear the exhaust note audibly change even at idle/standstill.

I am not sure about a fuse, you can check the fuse map provided in the fuse panel to see which one it may be.

if you are not familar with the location of the wiring harness for the flaps you can search for the appropriate thread in this forum which has pictures, if you disconnect this it *should* leave the flaps open, if this does not work, the solenoids must be stuck, and I think will require replacement...

I have heard of this happening before, but not to a .2 and not both of them!

good luck

Larry

I have had my 07 RS for roughly a month now. Never quite sure if the sport button was/is working. Can not really here a difference when I push it. Should it be readily noticable?
Thanks

the change in exhaust note should be audible, when toggled, from the cabin while idling, its not going to "blow the clothes off" of anyone standing behind the car, but you will hear the change.

maybe you can discern the difference here:

It is noticeable at idle. When you start the car let the idle settle then push the button. It will just deepen the tone a little.

I've had both solenoids and the entire drivers side muffler assembly (faulty flapper) replaced under warranty.

Solenoids that control the flaps are vacuum operated but the vacuum is controlled by an electric solenoid in the engine compartment (upper right area). There are some detailed photos on the forum somewhere.

Could be vacuum leaks, faulty flaps or faulty electric solenoid.

that's it, although I think there is an early thread with a much better picture ... if you pull that connector (you must press down with your thumb on the metal locking spring) the valves will remain open in sport mode all the time ...

I'm guessing if you can hear the change in it while idling your flaps are stuck shut ... or open

Thanks everyone for all of the help. Will have to go play around with it but I am pretty sure it is not working. Will have to get that fixed and I here a sharkwerks exhaust in my future.

I did unplug the connector. Still sounds like valves are stuck in closed position. Reconnected the connector and still could not get the Sport button to work. Will have to see what the dealer says i guess.

Have had this problem twice on my GT3, in both cases caused by the exhaust solenoid. The first time after the car was less than 3 months from purchase of the car new - initially the dealer replaced the whole exhaust system, if I remember correctly. The rest of the "Sport" functions and algorithms are activated, including suspension, but you do lose the extra exhaust sound.

Went and had my solenoids replaced. Boy what a difference. Finally a throaty mean sound with sport button. Before I had it fixed had this horrible drone @2500 rpm. Thought that was just the way it was Now that's gone. Much better around town sport off and mucho better with sport on.
