What do the piston pucks do and can you run without them?

I also told him to go get his rubber piston seals replaced as all of them were rotted or missing.
I don't have a seal left in a caliper

+1 no seals just clips to keep pucks in.

I'd still like to see how these "clips" fit. It can't go over the puck, but I don't see how it would fit under it either.

My Insurance company was on track with us LOL.
Rodger never put seals in, so we don't need them

Benefits: pucks don't fall out when changing pads (after the OE seals have crumbled).
Drawbacks: The brake piston cylinder walls in the caliper are no longer protected from road debris and you can expect to need to rebuild calipers much sooner without the seals there for protection. Winter driving/salted roads will kill the calipers in short order. For some it matters, for others not.
As always, no free lunch.

Don't think any of us runs them. Erik has brown calipers and 120+ track days. No caliper rebuild yet....
So pretty sure no problem.
+ caliper repaint and rebuild is not that much $$.

Thanks for the pic. I was having a hard time visualizing how they work.
