If you currently own a 4.0, is it really that much better?

Nope, that car is way too much fun to dump, although I do have a lead on a 2004 GT3 Cup so ya never know. The Interseries is coming to MMC this season so I may just attempt to make an A$$ out of myself by entering it.

On track, you need to stay so far ahead of the 2RS. It would be helpful to have a third foot to work the throttle and keep the snails spooled as you are trailbraking into an apex. On the street it is wait...wait...explode... Is the drama fun and exciting? Of course But...
For pure, linear, electric motor-like powerband, the 4.0 is in a league of its own. Let it torque around in 6th at 1500 rpm or properly work the rev range to enjoy that buttery smooth 6500 rpm (2000-8500) powerband. Don't know of any other engine that can do that?
Blown 3.6 vs NA 4.0, there is inevitably a difference in driveability and shape of the powerband.
Porsches are ridiculously overpriced if bought new so if you can buy a 4.0 well under MSRP it would not be a wholly stupid and unjustifiable decision to pick one up.

So much easier to drive the 4.0 fast vs the 2RS.

Having recently driven a 4.0 and a .1 GT3 RS hard thru winding roads of Northern Cal last weekend I cannot say that the 4.0 is a better car. I actually preferred the .1 much better. The suspension on the 4.0 did not leave me as confident as the .1, and both cars are completely stock. The extra power is noticeable but no so much that I could feel during street driving. A long straight at a track you may see different results but our local tracks don’t have that. A happy .1 guy.

Worth it!
If you can, you must. Turbo power without the lag and low RPM.
I might have a goodf year and have a fantastic 3.8RS for sale. White no options as they should be.
If you ask me if it has been tracked I hang up.
Always driven in the rain, track hard and parked wet. But well maintained and documented: www.trakcar.com/GT3RS. What's it worth, 110K? So I need to find 100K. Worth it.
