Default Ridge Motorsports Park (Easter weekend)

Great to see some RLs at the RMSP this past Easter weekend.

Here's a video w/GTR. Seeing all cars with more torque and exit acceleration on low speed turns (turn 4/5, 8a&b, 11, and 15) pull away from me is truly depressing.

Looks fast, I was at ORP this weekend. Hope to make it up to the ridge soon!

Matt Monson/guard can help with this depressing feeling

ouch! i feel your pain! Nice driving in the video however, very cool!

what is one to do in order to keep the high horse cars at bay?

Methinks i may have to convert the RS to full stripper and trailer it...

Patient complains of sinking feeling on low speed corner exits... This is largely due to stock 3.44 ring and pinion/gearing

This is precisely one of the main reasons that the .2 RS is worth the price delta IMHO

My .1 RS had the same gears and ring and pinion as SSTHO and was initially a let down on the track when compared to my former 996-3 which had a 4.0 ring and pinion

Now my RS has 8:33 ring and pinion and revised gears

No downside that I can discern

I have it in mine, if it didn't have it, it would have been one of the first things I did.

Regearing via actual gears or ring and pinion or both transforms the car

It is virtually a must do for a tracked car

Unfortunately, I think this is my final farewell to the GT3 ownership for a while. Since my wife and I are planning to move away from the country, we've got a good friend who's buying out the car. I'm gonna miss Greta very much!

So, I did something unexpected and took the DD out on the Ridge for curiosity's sake. Shockingly, I think I'm about 2-5sec slower (judged on GoPro video times) than my GT3 with only taking the car out for one session.

Yes, gearing would greatly help! I wanted to see what the RS guys thought about these corners at the Ridge. I noticed my ISF was catching up and felt quicker out of these corners. Despite being 700 lbs heavier, it does have 100 lbs/ft of torque on the my GT3.

Only Porsches that passed me this weekend were a stripper, race prepped Cayman and 997.1 GT3 on Hoosiers. GTRs and Vettes were eating me alive. So, I'm guessing it's gotta be tires and gearing that will make marked improvements to my issues. However, not willing to mod gearing unless I kept the car and I think I'll never try R-compounds (not willing to go through the trouble of transport, extra equipment, etc.).

My co-driver, Dan Rogers, was there with his E46 M3 racecar and Pro3 E30 325 this past weekend. He called me Friday night after driving the track all day pumped up about how great the track was. Your video confirms his comments. Can't wait to get up there in August to do some driving on it!

Hi Stephen,

Now I know why you are slightly faster than me last time, as I was running too high a gear than you!

I upshifted to 5th in long straight topping 250km/hr before braking. Also upshifted to 4th after turns 5, 8b (sometimes) and 12. I will try your way (stay in 3rd) next time. Will be there April 28-29 with Bullet Racing.

We will miss you at the track.

Targa tim -- if you were in your RS, you likely had to run a higher gear as the .2RS has a 3.89 ring and pinion vs the 3.44 in the gt3...

just a thought...

Tim, you need to come and do some retraining with PT, PJ and I will get you to go faster!

Very good thought indeed.

I will have to play with different gearing next time to see what fits me better. Also am working on higher cornering speed and better lines.

As for re-training with Ed, please come to Ridge to teach me, I don`t want to drive 2 more hours to Oregon...
