Default Afternoon drive notes

Picture a beautiful 80 degree day here on the space coast of central Florida. No track events. No PCA events. GT3 is sitting in the garage totally clean. New Sharkwerks pipe and I really wanted to hear hear it. So what to do? Ignore the lawn work and hop in the car!*

I took some back roads to a deserted airport runway we sometimes use for auto crossing. And yeah, bypass pipe sounded so great! After this I headed out to Vero Beach. Had lunch on the patio of a beach side cafe. Spent even more time in the parking lot answering questions from folks checking out the GT3.*

From Vero I drove up A1A and throughout the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Sucked down a tank of gas as I liked to listen. You know what I mean. And then on to the roads around Cape Kennedy Space Center. Nice big curvy road that one can best enjoy while driving at the proper GT3 speed limit. At one point, I came upon a staging area of shorts and sitting right there by the side of the road was one of the space shuttle's external fuel tanks and two of the boosters. Neat to see close up as only a fence separated us.*

Yeah, I love my GT3. Hope where ever you are you can get out and enjoy a drive.*

have you witnessed a launch?
if so, how does it 'feel'?

Oh man! I didn't think to take a picture of the car with the tank and boosters in the background. They were lying down. But still, bigger than imagined.

I have seen a majority of the launches over the years Aussie Jimmy. My home is only about 20 miles from the space center. The launches are awesome. The flame from the engines and the white smoke is cool. Even better is the loud rumble. If one did not know better you would think there is an earthquake. Literally you can feel the ground shake at 20 some miles away. Sometimes even have to straighten the pictures on the walls. And to think no more shuttle flights. Sad.

I will be up that way next weekend so I will get some pictures and post.

Sounds like a great day enjoying the GT3.
I went on a similar drive this weekend & took my cousin who just had heart bypass surgery.
A great way to trigger the endorphins.
