I think the top 5% of the GT3 owners could use the extra benefits of the 4.0. Meaning you guys are doing twenty plus DE events per year. However, let's say someone like Peter. I would run the 3.8 until it dies, and then upgrade it to a Motorsport kit of some sort better than the 4.0 if there is any. I mean you all already have all the cheater parts in your cars already. Get a new larger motor in and call it done, or spend more money on lighter parts too.

Or buy a 4.0.
Mine is already delivered to my spec to the current owner Jeff who took over the allocation from Nizer and Jeff is taking care of it for me.
I think he still has less then 500 miles and it is parked at Orbit.

Forex is not my speciality but I don't think EUR/USD parity will be happening for a long time barring some asymetric event. Regardless of if parity happens, I'd be more concerned with who in the US is qualified to work on a MM 4.3L beyond routine maintenance once this kind of investment has been made. As such, it might be wise to let the early adopters suffer any consequences first and read about their potential problem$ on forums like this later. Secondly, one can opt to take a safer route and keep their investment close to its creator which is why the GT3 seen in this avatar will probably never be more than a three hour drive away from MM post conversion.
Enjoy......
Enjoy......

Believe it. For whatever reason, the 4 liter displacement on these engines changes the characteristics that much. The 996 4.0 I built exhibits the same linear & strong bottom/mid range, without any flat spots.

Just put a story on the 4.0 to bed last week...after a couple of long drives in the press car, both in the rain and the dry —*and a lot of time in the RS 3.8 last year on track on great roads.
Simply sum up is like the OP's: I can't believe how much better the car is for all its small tweaks. Just feels totally dialed in, and that adds to driver confidence, and that means I suspect most drivers would benefit from the tweaks.
And, yes, that engine...

First post ever on the GT section .... My next car will be a GT3 RS ... With my novice driving skills, "even" a 996 GT3 is more car than I could ever want but I love the second gen 997 and at some point would be happy to buy a 3.8 from an enthusiast who is now lusting for a 4.0. I had a hard time between a boxster spyder vs GT3RS but given the PNW, it is hard to justify a convertible. So please keep me in mind.
