- The best looking GT3 is the 2007-2008 GT3 RS.
- The best GT3 is the 4.0RS (performance and quality wise)
- The most fun GT3 is the 2004 GT3 RS (other markets), and the 2003-2004 GT3 (if restricted to U.S.)
Everything else is a compromise in one direction or another, within the triangle set by the 3 cars described above, defining performance, looks and fun at each vertex.
Ultimately, no one can go wrong with any possible version of a GT3, as long as it is a GT3.
GT2 and GT2 RS are just faster but uninspiring versions of a GT3, or lightened versions of a Turbo, the lack of personality has affected their resale value, except for the original one, which is one of the baddest Porsches ever made, the 993 GT2.

If you really intend to drive it 97% street and 3% track I think you already answered your own question, a GT3 is more than adequate particularly in the US where you are hampered with speed limits. However, I'd steer clear of the red one and go after a clean 997.2 GT3 instead. More $ but more car. If you're dead set on an RS then wait for the right .1 to come along, IMO. It's prettier, there are far fewer of them and you might have fewer problems with it down the line as previously noted in prior posts. GLWP!

Did they mention how much they sold for? Curious on selling price on those cars.

RS
I have a non-RS. I wish I had an RS. It doesn't make a difference until about 3 months into ownership. Then I realized how special the RS is.
Performance is the same. Ya ya don't quote me ring figures. In the .1, the gt3 and RS are near as makes no difference the same car.

Question on the RS. One of the things I like about the standard GT3 is some of them (not sure how many) dont have the giant GT3 sticker on the side. I prefer the understated look. I havent seen a RS without the color coded wheels and giant sticker. Do they sell them plain?

If you want gt3 for collection and not going to ride it often - get 4.0 RS. If you intend to drive car every day - regular gt3 will be better than RS and GTS will be even better than GT3. Visit a dealer and try them all yourself and decide if GTS with PDK is what you want or if GT3 RS manual with very low sitting front lip will work for your routes. Imho anybody who can call RS a street friendly car is not telling all truth. It is almost unusable in the city, even with front axle lift it sits very low, so, try it first.

GTS with SPASM option is a very good car, 405hp which can be boosted up to 450hp as some folks say, it`s new good reliable 9a1 type engine in the RS wide body. I would get it and then put in RS suspension into it, if desired. 991 car is still too new to get it in the first production year.
