Default Buying 3 year old unused tires

I've been offered to buy a set of unused rear tires (MPSC) produced in 2008 for about 50% of the price of current year production. They've been stored all the time at the correct temps etc.

Is it a good deal or is it just asking for trouble?

3 years doesn't sound so bad, but I am curious what the experts have to say.

If stored properly they should be good!

Sounds good, I think I'll buy them. It's not like they're going to survive for more than a few months anyway, so no chance of them getting really old

I don't think it's a big deal, I received a set from tire rack awhile ago that were over 2 years old and I called to ask them what was up with that. They told me as long as they are stored in doors and not exposed to direct sun light or extrem tempature changes that all was good. They worked out fine.

For 50% off buy as many as you can.

Tyres do degrade slowly over time, especially if stored in the wrong places, but it's small effect. Unless you are doing it for timed competitions then losing a few tenths a lap is well worth the 50% saving.

I ran 6-7 year old track Corsas on my GT2 without issues.

I just bought a brand new set of rear MPSC's and have no issues. As said above, as long as they have been stored properly, no problems.

I don't think Izzone and Reter run any tires that are less than 5 years old....
