Default Anyone else have Stoptech rotors with stock calipers? Pad choice?

I have the Stoptech rotors and hats with the big stock Porsche calipers (yellows-but same caliper as reds I believe) on my 2010 gt3. Does anyone else have this combo, and what track pads do you like? Supplier? Because of the large hats, the pads need to be milled. Are you getting them Pre-milled? Pad cost? Thanks.

why not use a rotor that you can use right sizes pads ?
PFC or endeless pads.

I have the stoptech rotors as well. Started with PFC 01 which are great but I switched back to Pagid yellow 29s as I like the feel and they are easier on the rotors then the PFC 01. I know other guys here who like their PFC 08 quite a bit .

I just buy the pads from Craig at Rennstore and have my shop cut them down. I believe Stoptech can supply you with a template.

Oh yeah, and the hats begin to look like crap after a couple of track days cause the anodizing is sub par.

I took the ceramics off, and needed an aftermarket rotor. For better or worse I ended up choosing the Stoptechs. So, that's what I have. I would rather pay the little extra to mill pads than to re-invest in different rotors and hats at this point.

Is there a reason to run rotors that doesn't suit stock pads sizes ?
I mean, price advantage or any other reason ?

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I will see if I can get a template for my shop.

I have a similar set up but went with the PFC rotor. The PFC 08 pad comes in 2 thickness'.

I think 17 and 19 mm. Call clark at apex, he has been great deal with and will give you good info.

Also the guys at GMG run stop tech and are a stop tech dealer, ask for joe, he is also great to deal with.

Good luck

no reason at all, and StopTech should machine a replacement rotor on the proper specs, so people don't have to go through this hassle.

Fortunately, there are replacement steel rotors that allow the stock pads to be used.

I use brembo type III rotors with pccb calipers and I run rs29 pagids in the stock pccb calipers and the part number that ends in 8004 is the pad that offers clearance for hat and works in stock caliper

I got them from Jeff Alton at PAC west

I used to run pagid pads on my GT2. Yellows just wouldn't do the job and after a couple days pedal used to get weird, and car wouldn't stop. Changed to blacks, and those would work fine, but couldn't run all the way down like I do with the PFC.

PFC 08 pads part #7819.08.17.44 will clear a brembo type III hat with 3 or 4 mm to spare. They might work for you with no milling.

I've never had good luck with stoptech over the years so I stay away. I'd see if they can make their kit at least to accept the proper layout for the futur. In a way it seems almost sacrilegious to take off brembo parts in favor of those

I'm glad someone else said that before I did since I didn't know if it was just me or my driving style that made them awful. Maybe they've changed from a decade ago, but back then their rotor material wasn't too good for mixed use (heavy track/daily street use). When I tried Stoptech rotors I got uneven burnishing no matter how I bedded things in, as soon as I swapped to Brembo, all my problems disappeared. When I swap out my pccb rotors I'm going Brembo.

The other point about Stoptech vs. Brembo, back then Stoptech wanted me to swap over from my full Race Tech Brembo system for SCC's USCC3, and backchanneled me through friends, but weren't willing to foot the bill. I'll always remember that.

If I had a GT3 I would have PFC rotors on it....my friends in GT3DE Cup have done all the research
