What is this, NASCAR?!?!
Run the car in the rain, just be sure to adjust your perspective about what is "fast"...
Honestly, I'm more concerned about running on a dry track, when the grass is still wet!!! Nothing like going off at dry-track speeds, and then sliding for acres!!!!

Respectfully back - I live in Seattle
I have plenty of rain experience
My "NASCAR" attitude has nothing to do with intimidation and everything to do with enjoyment... I have done my fair share of sliding around the wet track at half speed and I am comfortable with my rain skills - of course I could get better as we all could
Here I am on mpsc at pacific raceways... It's a little wet

Oh, to have grass. Fontana has some grass. Otherwise, around here it is sand and rocks. Big chunky irregular ceramic-rotor eating rocks. I would love to have grass.

Thank you so much for all the input. You guys are awesome!
The track is 3 hrs away, so I might leave at 4:30m AM and get a few runs. This is my 4th time on a track and my second with the RS, so I am not aware of it's limits just yet. I have never had my RS in the rain,so I am naturally stand offish...

Sounds like he's headed for Thunderhill with Diablo PCA this Friday. Bummer about the rain. I'm supposed to be up there this weekend with HOD myself... ugh.. horrible luck.

I think it like riding a motorcycle in the rain. I can do it. I did paseo de stelvio in the rain but it's just not that much fun.

Rain is great for understanding the cars handling and it really drops the wear rates on tyres and brakes, just take it easy where there's a wall nearby. In Europe so many trackdays get rain it's perfectly normal. Steady rain is easy, it's when it starts drying it gets harder as the grip becomes very 'patchy'.
I drove the 'ring many times in the wet and once when it was wet and greasy after a VLN race laid loads of rubber the previous day. Car was my old Ruf 996 GT2 with 630hp, on track Corsas, no t/c, or PSM, pretty hairy at some points.
I've been there some days when it's dry and you start the lap dry and encounter rain half-way around, no chance to stop or turn back then
Best fun car in the wet was my M3 CSL, that just loved being held sideways everywhere, I prayed for rain when tracking that......

If your tires are newish, then they're ok in the rain. They hydroplane in the puddles so just keep an eye out for those. Usually the racing line is clear. The tricky part is trying to pass someone who is slower and being forced to go off the line which will usually have puddles. I did a few rainy trackdays on my bike as well. Just do all your braking and acceleration while the car is straight and you'll be fine.

For the hard core trackers on this forum...Do you guys track your cars when in the rain? I have the Micheline cup tires on my 997.2, and heard they are not very good in the rain, so I am a little concerned.
I have a DE this Friday and the weather report is predicting 80% chance of rain. Well, I believe the whole entire state of california is going to have a nice an wet rest of the week.
What do guys think?

The MPSC+ are not good on standing water, you will aquaplane ... the Corsa Systems are noticably better ... MPSS would be better still...
dont dare turn TC/SC off ...
I agree that in the rain, you must exhibit significantly better car control, progressive/smooth control inputs are critical.
I'm off to LS on Monday, it will probably be wet, I probably will go out, but I will be running with LSPM(*) most definitely "on" ...
