I'm seriously thinking on one exactly the same as the one described above, would match well my white GT3. The V8 is so sweet and revving, no match to me by the upcoming turbos. Altough much improved, turbo lag on other Bimmers is there...

V8 M3 Comp all the way !!!

My point of view is that BMW USED to do great cars, not anymore, lower quality now.
M3 became an under power pig. A 4.2 V8 with 330 WHP, no thank you.
Old M5 is such an amazing car, that gets 13MPG in a really good day, not the best option for 4.4 dollar/gallon
Don't get me wrong, I worked for the factory for a few years, and was always a BMW lover, but honestly they lost the feel in my opinion.
The Best BMW's I had were the E34 M5 with the 3.8 with the 6speed getrag and the E36M3 (euro) with the 3.2 321hp. I loved both cars.

As a street car, you can't beat the Mercedes in my opinion. Smooth soft, torquey, fast and fun....

I would love a E46M3 as a daily.... now they are cheap and look great. In line 6 for the win.

Have a e60 m5 as a daily driver for five years. Great car. But, Havng driven the '12 M3 I'd buy that for a daily driver now if you want a more relaxed environment. V10 has to be driven hard to enjoy it, and it is somewhat insane when you do....glad I have an extended warranty as it does break (electronics everywhere).

Love the glowing rotor avatar

Agree with above assessment. Loved BMW, had them for years. The E46 M3 was my favorite and the mileage was good for a high performance car. After that though... Bangle butts started to arrive, no dipstick, no spare tires, all stuff that drove me crazy. I can't see going back, although their designs are better without Bangle.

My vote would be a Comp Package M3 in the E46 model. No SMG, 6 speed manual all the way.

I have an 08 M3 and it is the best daily car I've ever owned. The only issue is that it drinks gas so fast that I need to fill it every 3 to 4 days at $60.

Thank you !

Same here. Also bought a 335 coupe about a year and a half ago. It was a nice daily, manual, plenty of torque, nice looking interior. After a little while car started to fall apart. Not the same quality anymore.
Bought a 135i cabrio for my wife with DCT. Nice looking car, so we needed an SUV, and went for a Touareg TDI, no brainer, same price as the X5, but with a newer chassi, newer, better fuel economy, and 8 speed tranny. interior on the X5 is better, but overall TOuareg wins in my opinion. By that time, I supposed to drive the 135 cabrio as my daily, as I traded the POS 335 for the touareg.
I don't have to say that the car didn't last a week. Probably one of the stiffest cars I ever drove in my life, and at the moment I drove thru an uneven surface and saw the windshield shaking, I knew that was it.
Sold it and bought a GTR. Couldn't be happier without a BMW.
Unless they offer something spectacular, the only BMW I will buy is a motorcycle or the old good real BMW's.

M3 is a prius in fuel economy compared to the V10 M5.

I have the white 2011 m3, but 4 door. It is a blast to drive now as a daily driver. It is the one in the hand vs two in the bush.

The M4 will be a turbo. Naturally aspirated 414 ho, how can you go wrong, a few bolts ons get you another 7 to 10% hp gain.

good luck.

And the E60 M5 is a Prius compared to my SRT8 Jeep. That thing drinks gas but has a bigger tank.

The E46 M3 is a great car that can be bought for a steal right now. I have raced a couple of them making 330 rwhp with very simple bolt ons and the right programming. Lots of street E46 M3s making 310+ rwhp with nothing more than bolt on parts. That is awesome!

Don't get me wrong, I love the looks, and drives nice. The engine is underpowered in my point of view.
Claim 420HP, but the car makes 330-340 at the wheels.

Porsche claim 450HP car makes 420 to the wheels. Something is missing there. No questions that with work makes a great car.

Take the V8 now. Good car and engine, and the car is fairly sorted out.

The new turbo engine will more than likely run hot and into limp mode mostly on the track, and maybe even on the street. The V8 is fairly bullet proof.

1 avoid bmw
2 if you must choose b/n DFI turbo 6 or 4.2 V8, take the current V8

The E92 M3 is the most reliable car in BMW's lineup. I had one for more than 3 years and 30k miles with only one small issue.

You can talk wheel horsepower all you want, but the s65 NA V8 put the power down nicely. Much better power delivery and free reving than my E46. No comparison handling stock v stock, E92 v E46.

Best M3 ever, and last NA motor for a while. Great daily driver as well, the four door particularly.
