I just ordered a Hero2 to replace my old bullet cam, and have been thinking of a way to mount it in my 997.2 C2S, which doesn't have a roll bar like my GT3. Here's my thought:

Look at the plastic coat hook on the back of the seats. It's held on by a T25 Torx screw. If you take it off, on the inside it has a little clip on the bottom that hangs on to the seat to hold it in and support weight. I'm thinking of trying to securely attach a 3/4" square stick of wood (~12" long) to the plastic hook piece (it's a $10 part at the dealer, have one on order that I am going to mess with). The hook gets attached at one end of the stick and the other end points towards the centerline of the car. Mount the camera at the free end, and it should be in an ideal spot for filming, just behind the seats.

Leave the original hook in normally, replace with the hook/stick camera mount when you want to film. It's pretty hackly, but might work - depends on how heavy the camera is.

Just buy the suction cup. It is worth it and you won't have to hassle with the homemade contraptions.

I have the tow hook mount and it is OK. You can always just use the suction cup and mount it to your hood if you want that angle. Rear window mount gets some interesting angles and shots.

Already have it, but the risk with a suction cup mount inside the car is that it can become a loose projectile... Won't pass tech with more conservative organizations.

People on the road would be like ..." why the hell is he wearing a helmet to drive on the road?"

Can you please elaborate on this mounting technique??? I've been thinking of unconventional angles and this one easily takes the cake

Done 275km/h w suction on the side of car on curved flank - no problem. Don't think you'll have one inside the vehicle.

Why don't you just get the roll bar mount? You can point it forward or backward. And if it's forward, you can see both what's in front of you and your steering inputs. Personally I don't like the operation of the go pro but the video is good. I stopped using mine a long time ago. If I can find my roll bar mount you can have it.
