Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch and Spa only 50 miles away in Pahrump. So that could be good or bad depending upon how you look at it. Also May through September is unbearable in S. NV. Think sticking your head into an oven set to 500 degrees. Wintertime would be good though.
Vegas is know for plenty of hare brained schemes that never seem to pan out...doubt this happens.

Normally I would probably call BS, but Brutton Smith has pulled off the un-imagineable before. He built a badass 4 lane drag strip in Charlotte, then when the city gave him problems, he threatened to scrap Lowes Motor Speedway and move it to the next township.
Looks like the land portion of it is being taken care of, just should be interesting to hear how they plan on making it profitable with no races being planned for it.
