No CEL. You aren't tampering with the 02 sensors or cats, you're just substituting the side mufflers with elbows to the center muffler.

The sound is exactly what a 997 CUP sounds like. In other words, very good. It's what I run on my car...997 gt3 street headers, 2010 997 Cup elbows/center muffler.

When you do this mod to a 997 street car, you either have to get elbows with two inlets into the muffler, or cap one pair of the inlets off. The 08-10 CUP muffler is very similar in internal construction to a stainless steel 997 street center muffler.

Also it depends on how much noise you a) want b ) are ok with inside the cabin. Generally everything that removes the side mufflers will add a significant amount of drone/resonance. Also if you are keeping the factory center muffler the additional heat/flow can crack the Ti one so if you're doing away with the sides get rid of the center Ti one too for a replacement.

Some of the time I like having a track-style system like this (but it's noisy!)
So most of the time I run this:

Alex is correct that is a little bit of drone on low RPM's (2000-2600), but is OK for most people, even the ones that talk on their bluetooth.
About the cracks, Porsche changed the welds from the early production cars, to the new ones, and also what most of the people don't know is that the cracks were also happening on the Cup cars, and that's why the use of the proper bracket is also really important.
We recommend the side muffler delete to the individual that is looking for less weight and better performance, for mainly street use and no track time, I would recommend Sharky's products, as a few other aftermarket bypass options, that are proven to work and being pretty reliable.

side muffler removal is great but you need a good center muffler to help with DB levels (if your local track has restrictions), back pressure is important as the stock center muffler was not really designed to be a stand alone unit and of course the additional heat going threw the stock center can cause cracks.....

Fabspeed sell the side deletes.

With the side muffler delete, I am aware of the center muffler cracking issue and am prepared to replace it from time to time.

It's only an issue without the proper supports.

With the valves open on the full OEM exhaust, the exhaust flow is pretty much equivalent to not having any side mufflers. So, I don't really see how it's not designed for it.

the sides with valves open is still muffled.... a lot more so then without them.

porsche designed the system to work together and not apart.

Am I missing something ?
Why would you have the flaps to bypass a side muffler that doesn't exist anymore ???
