I don't think so, although the 4.0 wing is canted at a different angle than the 3.8 ... I cant recall the exact numbers but I think its an extra 2 degrees...

Different part numbers with different prices for the wing, side mounts, and side plates. And a different lid too.

4.0 RS wing is painted vs lacquered right?

uprights are different due to extra angle of attack ...

endplates, I forgot those were different also ... larger I think

I imagine if you had a 3.8 RS you could use the 4.0 endplates and uprights to dial in more downforce (along with dive planes at the front, and maybe the cup splitter too?)

I think all the CF parts on the 4.0 are lighter because it is painted. Wing being one of these parts too. I think on an interview to Chris Harris, Andreas said they pianted these parts instead to save weight.

I kinda see that painting vs lacquer is liter but how much your talking about? Maybe I'm in the minority here but Porsche makes the best looking carbon finishes- I think a lacquered carbon would look great on the 4.0 esp if u ordered car with decal delete and black rims. Mike

Funny thing too is the mounting bolts are different on the 4.0 than the 3.8 RS. I will take a picture so you can see the difference.

Don't know about incompatible but the head of the bolts are different. The 3.8RS are a flat face with no writing. The 4.0RS have similar face but have writing about the grade on them. I am about to leave the office for lunch and will get pictures of the bolts from the house.

same wing element, different end plates, different uprights. 4.0RS is painted, 3.8RS is beautiful gloss carbon.

They paint the carbon wings for cost savings. Exposed carbon fiber has a visual reject rate associated with it. Paint can save a lot of carbon pieces that otherwise could be rejected.

Any weight savings from using less resin is a by-product, not the driving factor.

Good thesis: "They paint the carbon wings for cost savings. Exposed carbon fiber has a visual reject rate associated with it. Paint can save a lot of carbon pieces that otherwise could be rejected."

The naked 3.8 looks better and was personally checked by a master technician.

Angle is 9 degrees for the 4.0 and 6 degrees for the 3.8.

I believe people have put the 4.0 end plates on the 3.8 wing.
