Default RS 4.0 Over the Hype-Hump

I now count eight RS 4.0's sitting on dealer lots that aren't moving, and I know that's not all of them. Most are marked-up and/or over-optioned, but even the few that aren't are not flying off the lot. The most realistically priced one is the Black 4.0 listed here at $185k.

Not taking anything away from anyone that bought the car at MSRP but I expect better supply and pricing as we get closer to 991 GT3 launch.

At the end of the day the Metzger engine angle is only relevant to a very very small percentage of Porsche owners. And they, as you've alluded to, have a very very specific idea of what the ideal 4.0 is.

The over-optioned cars will likely fair even worse on the used market in a few years...

let's see 10 years later. just like the 993s, any car will depreciate in value, but after sometime people realize the value, character and collectibility hence the price begin to go up. but of course that's a long wait. for now those 4.0 owner are enjoying their cars. surely i am =)

Sellers last post said buyer financing was not approved. Back on the market (and eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...ies%26_fvi%3D1). Have at it.

i knew that there will be many cars sitting on lots when the 4.0 news was announced. what pisses me off is most of those cars were dealer ordered.... they were all "supposedly" sold. you know how that goes. there are plenty of buyers out there, if they were offered msrp with open spec. but no.... dealers must have it their way.....

what a total waste of allocations...

i hope those cars sit on the floor for a good long time and let them eat the flooring cost. one day the moronic dealers will learn. fascinating stuff... can't believe there are ppl who learns slower than mooty.

the RS 4.0L has a strong future not only because of limited numbers but due to it being the last of the short wheel base, manual transmission Porsches.... super fun to drive!
The power to weight ratio, and lack of electronic nannies will also help secure their sought after future.

now, if the 991RS is a Ring lapping, bullet proof, fire breathing world beater that makes everybody who drives it feel like 'Patrick Long' than we can forget all about the future values of the 997 GT3.....

Give me a break with the 993 comparisons.

Currently, pristine 993s are selling at what, 1/2 of their MSRP at best. Put down the 993 crack pipe and step away.

That's probably true for the US, which never got the RS/GT models on the 993.

For the rest of the world, a 993RS is trading about the same as it's original price and 993 GT2s are at 50%-100% above original price.

I think the 4.0RS will be sought after over time, buts it's unclear how much it will be more sought after than the 997 RS 3.8, which was also not made in large numbers and which has proven to be barely slower than the 4.0 in most tests to date.
