Ok great you pinned them but the glue is still old and can leak at some point

So what is the point if only half the repair is done? I can see not welding them but at least pull them re glue and then pin

Pinned the lines on my 997.1 GT3 this past weekend. Would not have been able to do it without this thread.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

That's a valid point, in my opinion.

My guess is that a pinned fitting will at least not move, so you have less chance of a leak with the original glue.

Either way moving or not the glue can leak does not matter if its pinned.

The idea is to keep the fitting from blowing apart and causing a catastrophic event. I replaced all my fittings. The bbi fittings are quite a bit better than the factory pieces

I don't recall reading many (any really) instances of these pipes leaking. Seems they are OK 'til / if they become disconnected from the engine. Of course if a pipe has in fact popped out, then it would have to be re-glued prior to reassembly and pinning. But I'm not sure I see the benefit of re-gluing a pipe that hasn't failed. Pinning it in place should be a good solution.

I guess I see it as if im doing all that work im not doing it twice. I pull my engine and had them welded. Never have to worry about them again. I had my camshafts pinned also.....I know crazy cause that never happens either.

what’s better about the bbi fittings? They are designed for welding though, right?

Wink Thank you!

Thanks for the great post Steve. I've been leery to do this as a DIY project on my 996TT but after reading your post I'm ready to tackle it.
