I agree they need to be used. Watch Mecum or Barrett Jackson and there is rarely a spotless perfect car out there and any collectible car still has value far beyond the original buy in. Short term a car can be driven and maintained, long term a major overhaul or rebuild is a given. A 73 RS is money today with condition a secondary consideration and ownership the primary consideration. This is where the value is. Do I think my 4.0 is money today, no, I am not a fool. Maybe 20-30 years from now it could be, but I doubt some interesting patent on a track focused model will make it sparkle any less under the big lights.

Exactly! Grab a used RS, mod it, make it your own, and drive the snot out of it. Heck you can put a Manthey 4.3L in the back, seriously upgrade the suspension, and still come out ahead.

Sadly, most 4.0's will end up being garage queens.

Not sure at this point. Probably soon at the BMWCCA test day in March. We will see.

mooty -- you ready yet?
all of the 4.0 talk is getting me randy for a purchase :-)

Might I add to those with the lowly 3.6 GT3/RS -- BBI offers a pretty slick 4.25 kit...

Just sayin -- no affiliation other than I wish it could really justify it to my wife.

Nice Freudian slip there. Randy (Izzone) has also said that he wants a shot at this car

Default actual HP will be higher at speed

Dynos are good for measuring HP/torque of the engine, but in the car at speed, the effect of the air ram of our spoiler will increase HP a bit too.

i can't find my 4.0
it disappeared into it's owner's garage. i own no porsches.

i might get another 3.6.
but i will not stuff bigger motor in there. lately there are just too many "mods" going on for old fart like me. i thought only civic type R v tech needed modding... or maybe my 16v scirocco....

urge your friends to mod.... dont mod yourself.

so... when will you convert yours to RSR spec?
