After shipping lots of boxed items for 13 years I have better luck with USPS (no claims) than UPS (10 plus claims and it's always a nightmare filing the claim) not much experience with Fedex but no claims so far with the limited amount I use them.

FWIW, we've shipped thousands of packages all over the world in the past 10 years and if by postal air mail, only two countries have seemed to frequently present problems with delivery and "lost" packages, South Africa and the Dubai/UAE. Every where else has very rarely been a problem. The problems have become so bad there we have to inform the recipient that there likely may be an issue with receipt, if by the postal delivery system in their country and they acknowledge it. In fact they recommend and will pay extra for delivery by UPS as they will be the reliable carrier, even over FedEx.
Stolen packages to South Africa - you are 200% correct, so much so that Amazon refuses to ship there anymore by ground or postal methods. Only courier option, hand to to hand delivery insured works and even then issues happen.
Dubai/UAE - you cannot be serious. I can go to the mall and leave my GT3 running with the keys in it, and the only thing that will happen is the police will give me a ticket for leaving my car running unattended.
Further, as one of my fellow p.club members has said here, as P.owners we ship loads of stuff in. Aside from stuff from FVD I have even shipped in a custom made roll cage from Germany + loads of stuff weekly from Amazon, including a 9ft xmas tree once.
