Yeah, the price for the used 2004/05 GT3 is so attractive. But I love the design of the 997 GT3 much more.

In general, what are the major differences between the regular GT3 and the GT3 RS for both 996 and 997? Is it worth it to spend the extra money for the RS?
If you rarely track and only street drive the car once a week than you would love a 997.1 GT3. They are smoother ride than 996 GT3 for street duty. And they look great too.
It also has a sunroof and last of the simple 5 lug wheels.

The 997.1RS has a single mass flywheel which is a little noisy and no sunroof.
But if you like the wide body and flashy graphics/colors than you would have a lot of fun once a week in a RS.

If you are on a budget, you need not bother with the 997.2GT3/RS as the 997.1 models have everything you are looking for.

If you do have the extra cash for a 997.2, remember this, they do not offer sunroofs and they only come with center lock wheels......

Look out TC! You’re playin’ with fire! Too many .2s here to badmouth the greatest looking wheels in captivity.

997.1 is a great car, and now is a budget car
997.1 RS is a classic, if you can find one its awesome
997.2 is a better car than the 997.1, and the 997.1 RS. But its not as special as the 997.1 RS in my opinion. Still it will lap quicker than both the other cars
997.2 RS is an AMAZING car, and in my opinion is what the 997 GT3 should have been from the beginning. Its also very special (its an RS).
997.2 RS 4.0 is everything the 997.2 RS is, just a bit more and a bit better, and obviously far more exclusive.

2000, 2004, 2007, and 2010 were the best years.

when i was a young lad traveling through germany in 1999 i fell in love with the GT3 clubsport!

they had 6 of them parked outside behind the fence at the factory ready for delivery.

These models were unknown to north america at the time and to see a new body style porsche at the factory with leather race buckets, full interior and a roll bar was mind blowing to me.

So a 1999/2000 GT3 is a special car to me on a personal level. Especially because North America did not get this model until 2004!
