Default SOOOO...997.1 Track Rims 18's or 19's???

PLEASE offer some advice as I'm on the fence. I usually opt for the 18's for choice of tires. But, 19's with a shorter sidewall will be firmer. What do you all think? Tire cost differences? Oh and have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas!!

If you trailer and run slicks 18 is the choice. However driving to the track on r-comps 19" is now the only choice....unless you like running the only 18" r comp tire choice Toyo R888.... More choices in 19"

depends what tire you intend on using....

If you are using street tires, the added bonus of 19" is you can mix and match them from your 19" street wheels.... Gives you more spares to choose from.

I have two sets of stock 19" wheels for D.E and street.

I also have two sets of 18" wheels for racing where damage dosnt bother me. Disposables.

(one set of the 18" wheels i bought from you when you had your first 997.1RS)

Yup, those CCW's are always a great choice. I will either run r6, r888 or ra1's. I will keep the street stuff just for street driving. I'm bad about cooking them at RRR since it is such a giant skid pad.

Anyone know the weight differences between CCW's and OZ?

ZZB, the only r comp choice in 18" left for a 997 car is Toyo R888. If you like those then they run around $1200-1300 for a set. Same tire in 19" is $1400. However R888 are not well liked. The Pirelli Trofeo is around $1600 Michelin Sport Cup is $2000 ( I just got a set for $1900) and Pirelli Corsa is $2400!

Hmmm. Guess this could go either way then. No RA1's in 19's per Dell so that sux. But still has R888's. R6's in both sizes...fairly close in price. Is there a definitive better? Anyone weighed the difference between the 19 in a shorter tire wall vs. 18 in a taller tire wall?

ZZB...it depends on te tire for weight. My 19" michelin sport cups weight less than 18" R888...Hoosier R6 slicks weight even less.

If you trailer Hoosier is better.
R888 suck.

If you drive to the track 19" trofeo, Corsa or mspc.

Both RA1s and R888s are available in 305/35-18. If you choose different widths and tire heights, there are a lot of options available. 19"s provide no handling advantage and just cost more money when it comes to replacing tires.

Nope...RA1 is no longer made in 305/35/18.

Looks like Mike is right...fewer and fewer tires in 18's. Wonder why? Not selling enough?
