if you have trailer - go with hoosiers or kumho v710. that will mean 18" rims.
if you want to drive your car to a track - in 18" you are limited to R888 currentlym so it makes sense to go into 19" rims.

fewer 18" DOT rubber is due to general trend to have 19" rims as stock option. tire producers look only at factory options for wheels, not at aftermarket.

Hmmm..that makes sense. I drive to the track, but only 12 minutes.

if distance is that short i would get v710 tires only. they last longer than hoosiers and have excellent grip. that means 18" rims, 9" wide front will take 245 rubber, for rear you have either 305 or 315.
if you go with 305 then in front you need smaller 245/35R18, if you go with taller 315/35R18 then in front you need 245/40R18.
both 305 and 315 will sit fine on a 11.5" wide rear wheel, so it is probably will be better with 9"/11.5" than with 9"/12".

if you want to get 285 tire in front - give CCW a call and ask them how can you fit 10" wide rim in front - then you may be able to run on 285/315 or 285/345rubber, it should feel very nice in front.

all in all choice of rubvber dictates choise of wheels, not other way around, so you need to decide on brand, then sizes, then look who can sell rims that fit. say, or 245/305 rubber best bang per buck are still OZ allegeritas in 18" 8.5"/11". I just dislike 8.5" wheel in front a lot as it is too narrow for 255 or 265 rubber, 9" front is more versatile. plus if you look at cuup car configuration they always keep 2" gap betwen front and rear - 9"/11" or 10"/12". there should be good reason for that.

Cool, thanks. Never ran a kumho before...they look pretty good. Would you get CCW over an OZ set? I'm def looking for shorter tire walls. A stiffer tire will help the soft suspension, albeit a small amount.

CCW is a true forged wheel plus it can be ordered in custom offsets - that is why i suggested to call them. I got my set for a typical used price of $2K, about of $1K less than new set costs. mine are 9/12 in gt3 offsets.

like i said i think CCW have now 9.5/12 sets for narrow body gt3 car and may have 10/12 too. ask them.

OZ is a cast wheel, lightweight but cast and people say it is balanced worse than ccw. but no one saw allegerita wheel to brake on a track yet so they have solid reputation. if you plan on running 245/305 - i would get OZs, if you plan to run on wide rubber - go with custom CCW in proper sizes. it is a big decision, so, do not hurry it up, do you research.

ccw are bit heavier than OZs but they are wider.
i do not know if it is such a great idea to go after lightest thinnest track wheel possible as it is sill made from same regular aluminum and you want that wheel to be reliable enough. i like CCW, they have a lot of experience and imho if they leave that much metal on their wheels - they do know why they do it this way.

other way is magnesium wheels but for me it is in same area with titanium lug bolts - i do not dig it. plus i do not have extra $10K to spend on such toy, i better put into my kid`s colledge fund.
