Wow… this opens my eye as I thought I would have limited options. These wheels are gorgeous. Going to have to rethink buying a set for the track – and make the original wheels for the track. My 2010 GT3 is my daily driver. I do everything from concurs to rallies, to DE’s. I even drive it to the grocery store. But one thing is certain, the PS2’s are not enough tire for the track. My plan is a second set of wheels with MPSC that will provide me more grip while allowing me to drive to and on the track.

Same here daily driver..
For me the MPSC don't have enough grroves for the FL thunderstorms, so I bought real deep groove tires with crappy dry grip (Generals) for the track you can't go wrog with MPSC for driving to and from the track..

I would recommend to call CCW and aske either for 9/12 inch wide 18 rims (which they definetely have in nb gt3 offsets) or 9.5/12 wide rims.

You will benefit from widest from rim you can fit on as it will allow 265 or 275 rubber in front. On 12 inch rear rim you will put 335 rubber.
Or you can go with 9/11 rims as on a cup car and run similar rubber size wise that cup car runs.

If you are driving to the track for DE's....look at 19" wheels because you have MPSC, 2 kinds or Pirelli and Toyo's in 19".....with 18" the only r-compound streetable tire is the Toyo R888.

I did Sebring last weekend with MPSC dry and rain and drove home in the rain with them. They were fine in the rain I just drove carefully...no issues. Pirelli Corsa is a better r-comp rain tire.

Thanks Mike. I was at Sebring the other weekend too. Drove in the rain as well. Just glad I was not out there when that Lexas was.

Yep!....I arrived right when that took place. Glad he was OK and that he did not collect anyone in that ordeal.

First you decide what tires in what sizes you want to run on, then you shop for rims that fit.
Selection of street dot r-comps is a big issue. Still, imho, in 2011 season best dot r-comp tire was nitto nt-01 and in 2012 most likely it will be same.

Nitto NT01 DOES NOT HAVE PROPER SIZES FOR 997 CARS! 997 needs larger diameter for the rear than the front.....Right at .5" larger rear. I thought you new this...if not go check out the specs for NT01 as they do not offer proper sizes.

^ I'm still begging them for a 305-35-18 on a weekly basis. NT01's are about 1 second faster a lap than RA1's. I've done lots of back to back testing on my M3, and while the compound is virtually the same, the tire construction is updated and better. Most GT3/911 owners don't know just how fast this tire is.

Anybody who likes the RA1's (or any treaded R-comp), would love the NT01. Grippier, doesn't need shaving, and you still drive it until it cords (doesn't heat cycle out). It's honestly a shame the entire 911 community is getting hosed on these tires.

That is incorrect. The 335 rear will not fit on a narrow body GT3, only the RS.
The one tire to consider is the Trofeo as we have tested back to back against the MPSC and they were 1-1.3 seconds a lap faster.
I met with Rafael Navarro, Head of Pirelli Motorsports NA, and he told me they are coming out with the Trofeo R which will give the same amount of grip as the current Trofeo but with better tire wear......should be a great option for Porsche owners.
And it's no wonder that Pirelli is the OEM tire for the new 991....

James, thanks for the info...since I drive to and from Sebring (95miles each way) for DE's I've been on R888's for years and recently tried out MPSC.

Any idea when the newest version of the Trofeo is coming out?

What are the offsets for 265/275 fronts and 335 rears? How are they fitted, and do they rub on the track? I have a hard time seeing 265 fronts fit with factory metal fenders let alone a 275.
