C. Harris comment on 991 vs GT3
Just taken from issue 165 of Evo.
" For all that, the GT3 has the more inspirational motor. It feels like a lightly rationalised race engine for good reason - that's exactly what it is"

The more that is leaking out, the less inspiring the next GT3 is looking. It will get a 9A1 engine with the same 7-sp manual/PDK option as the 991 C2S and even get the new C2S electric steering that road testers commonly don't like. I am still keeping my fingers crossed, but it is not looking good.

Typical forum behavior. We saw it with the 993. We saw it with the 996. We're seeing it in the 997 to 991 transition.
I have no doubt that the new GT3 is going to set new lap records that will annihilate what the current crop can lay down. Knowing how fiercely competitive many of you are in this forum particularly, the lot of you will want to get with the Porsche rocket sled that goes fastest around tracks the world over.
And remember, Mr. Harris owns the best-of-breed 4.0. He's sampling the best of the best in his free time. It's only natural for him subconsciously reference what's most familiar to him with the vanilla 991 Carrera unit. It's like comparing the 996 GT3 to the 997 Carrera S during its launch. We know there is was no comparison yet in this case, der neue Carrera is splitting hairs with the outgoing NA GT variant.
Awesome for us the consumer!
