Default Headers

Right leading on from the GMG WC Headers thread i'm now keen to buy headers and 200cell cats and don't want to derail that thread anymore.

So what are the costs and gains of the available options. I'm in the UK so this will different fro you in the States.

GMG: Look the best made, race proven £2800 before import tax and shipping.

M&M: I think these are the ones sold by FVD(?), The headers iv seen don't look that impressively made but didn't Ranger use these with great effect? I'm not sure the ones Iv seen are performance, more replacement standards. 1450Euros. Pic attached.

Cargraphic via Parr UK: £1500 exchange for the originals (why would they want my old ones?), £4300 non-exchange. Pic attached.

Cargraphic wants exchange because they cut open the existing header/cats, replace the catalyst element, and reweld.

You have the same exhaust manifold, now with a free flowing cat.

FVD for sure. They have equal length manifolds. Akra, cargraphic etc don't.

Are the FVD ones made by M&M in Germany?

Slightly defeats the point paying all that money for Cargraphic to end up with the same headers.... I would have BTB here in the UK do the same for a lot less.

Alternatively, delete the side mufflers and go with just the center muffler, a-la cup car. You save more weight this way and get the cup car sound.

I think he wants to keep it quieter than a cup car

FVD sell a version with side mufflers. Also look at their 'quiet vesion' it's only 92db.

CJ, congrats to you btw.

The problem is I want to have it quiet when needs be. Few UK track days allow a sharkwerks bypass, some even ban standard cars with the sport button pressed... I don't do much track driving with this car as I race, but I want the option. Even at the 'ring I was told off for running with the valves open with the Sharkwerks.

I have a control fitted to either open or close the valves remotely so having the side mufflers is key here. Straight through with the valves open is perfect but I need to be able to shut it down too when the moment arises (motorway cruise, certain tracks etc)

If I wasnt bothered about being able to be quiet(ish) i'd have this:

Loud and then straight pipes........
