Pretty sure that using water wetter is more about being nice to track grounds crews. Should you suffer the ultimate GT3 coolant failure, it cleans up (or evaporates!) waaaaay easier than glycol.

The traction coefficient delta of water wetter to glycol......when hit at track speeds on track tires is probably negligible.

I understand why it's used in racing, but DE use on a street driven car....? Not so much. BUT, it's something we hope to never put to the test

So where's Santa's Red Rocket now?
Are you able to track the transporter across the US?

There was an article posted recently about the properties of water, water wetter, and coolant, and the difference between the 3 was so negligible that it really didn't matter as the grip level lost from water water (or even regular water) isn't low enough to keep you from breaking traction. And sacrificing the protecting properties of coolant is not worth the risk moving to water wetter. Especially when probably <5% of the guys are track are using straight water or water wetter.

I wonder why it's mandatory for motorcycle racers to use Water Wetter if that's the case (not to mention automotive racing classes, which I am not familiar with). Is it strictly for ease of clean up? Which to me would also indicate that the track surface should be back to decent, and safer, a lot sooner

Same reason we go through that rigamaroll at airport security. It's the illusion that appeases us

Yeah, that whole "perception is reality" thing.

I am familiar with the article that you quoted. Can't argue with science I guess...

Unfortunately no live tracking - have the cell phone # of the driver but not going to bother him til mid-week. I expect the earliest it will be in Ogdensburg is end of the week.

You guys are maniacs. Not only do you track your cars frequently, now you want to track a transporter. Wonder what lap times it could get at Calabogie

Sorry, it's a slow day.

LVDell, do you have a link to that article? Having spun on my coolant and coming within 6ft of writing a $100k cheque, I'd love to better understand the false sense of security I've been experiencing using water wetter.

Having seen first hand what dumping coolant can do to those cars behind, coming into the bus stop at The Glen no less, I'll stick with water wetter and water.

Looking forward to seeing the car Dave. I actually had a deposit on a 997 GT3 in Guards Red before I bought my 996.
