sorry, I thought the autocheck report was taken off, but it's because I was on ebay's canada website which apparently doesn't show the autocheck report even for the same car. sorry!

I actually looked briefly at that car (it was on the US eBay site) but red doesn't do it for me so I passed. What's the deal with it?

sorry for the confusion gentlemen.
what happened was this...I'd been seeing that car listed for awhile, with an accident on autocheck. The accident wasn't disclosed in the summary, it just said the car is 'as new'. However, I logged into ebay from work and it automatically directed me to ebay canada. If you look at US cars from ebay canada, it doesn't show the autocheck report. So it looked like the dealer had pulled the report from the listing so that no-one would know it's been in an accident.

Basically, I got over-excited and made this post. Still, the car has an accident and no-one has bought it so I wonder what's going on under that body.

I have been watching this dealer for a couple of years and they frequently have cars that have problems on the carfax -- this way they can show a late model car with low mileage for a lower price than the current market. I have no problem with that personally -- a proper ppi should reveal what the problem was and if you can live with it.

i wonder if they do the repairs and turn a large profit or do they strictly broker/sell the car

yeah, I mean with that price, you'd think it would've been bought by now. I wonder if a PPI turned up something and put potential buyers off...

Pretty shady that they wouldn't disclose that and then a buyer would have to waste the $$$ on a PPI to find out what the seller already knew.

I am sure the seller doesn't do anything to repair the car beyond a basic detailing and good photos. Nevertheless, even though this appears to be a "late model" vehicle (2008) it is still a car that is just like a collectible. If you were to buy a 1960 MGA, I don't care how detailed the description is and how reputable the vintage dealer is, you still would have someone look at it in person if you couldn't do it yourself. Same thing with this GT3. Is it shady? I don't think the MGA seller in my example is shady -- as a matter of fact, a lot of times people don't disclose stuff because they don't even know. This dealer should know, but for me it is just splitting hairs. If I wanted this car, i would call the dealer to see if I could get the story on the carfax from his salesman. If the response was less than satisfactory, and I had to rely completely on the ppi, I probably would not pursue this particular vehicle unless it was so rare (a red GT3 from 2008 is maybe 1 out of less than 300) that I had to have it.

well, the thing is...a car can be in an accident even if the carfax is clean. My cousin bought a CPO M3 and had it for years. He had it on the lift the other day and there was clear evidence the frame had been pulled.

I would never listen to what the salespeople had to say about an accident, I'd just spend the extra money and get a body inspection...

I have not seen many of these in 08"s in red at all. Id say its quite rare.

My buddy I ushally drive at track with was looking for one before he bought his gt3, He spent ages looking and never did come up with one.

that's funny that 08's are rare in red. why would they be more common in 07's? Wouldn't it just be attributable to the smaller production number of the 08's? Though that should mean the availability of every colour should decrease in proportion...
