Definitely don't order a helmet online unless you are fully prepared to return it. Good fitment is so, so important. It shouldn't be tight but if you shake your head left and right the helmet should track your head movement. You might find you can fit one size smaller on an open face helmet vs. a closed one.

I have 3 helmets - one for my shifter kart which looks like hell, one open face Bell for my gt3, and HANS equipped Bell for racing. The shifter kart is XXL, the open face is L, and the racing one is XL. Go figure.

 

For those of you with a Stilo, how do you like the noise suppression? The comfort is amazing, but concerned I would miss the wonderful noise of the car.

I really like the Arai, but couldn't find it in my size. 1300 USD is a total ripoff though.

 

I pick up an HJC Si-12 Super-Lite. Nice SA helmet and lighter than their carbon fiber helmet - but at $699 retail. It's Hans ready, tear off ready, and comes with a really nice semi hard shell carrying case. I think this was new SA helmet for HJC so it might be low in the market price to break in.

 

Sparco has a affordable carbon fibre helmet-WTX-7 air. Thinking about getting one. I am wearing GP-5 but I found it a bit heavy someday!

Stilo Ear Muffs to make for a more quiet environment which is ideal for racing and using radios.. Not so much for instructing. You can put pin holes in the ear muffs which will allow more outside noise in. Just keep adding them as needed.. Or you can take the ear muffs out. What is nice is that the Helmet is modular so you can add or remove padding and features.

For racing and instructing they are great because all of the electronics are built in and it even has adaptors for a Chatter Box.
