It's here

My RS had PCCB, monoball upper control arms, monoball toe links, wider than stock tires (265/345 vs. 235/305) on a stickier compound, Carbon GT2 seats, a 20 lbs lighter battery, GT3 Cup front spoiler lip, and a heavy as brick (83 lbs) but body stiffening TC Design Rollbar, hardly a stock car. My fast lap on the MPSC was 1:52.787 and the fast lap on the slicks (same day) was a 1:47.830.

Dude, 2011 GT3 Cup are about 3 secs faster around Sebring than the 997 GT3 Cup 3.6 version (the 2009 and earlier cars). One of the fastest GT3 Cup drivers in the World, Sean Edwards qualified in 2:07.8, that's almost a 2:08. The 3.6 GT3 Cup properly floored would be in the 2:11s range.
So quit smoking or sniffing whatever you do, because a stock GT3 RS 3.8 on slicks won't do 2:13s on slicks, no matter who drives it. The realistic times start at 2:15 and up (on slicks) and 2:18s and up on shaved fat wide RA1 with a Pro driving.

On the day Ian drove my car it was crazy hot at Sebring (you were there)
My best lap of the day was 2:25 flat......this was on RA1 with a car that would not shift
I pulled in from a session (30 minutes of heat soak) and Ian hoped in the car. In traffic he was doing 2:22 and Traqmate TBL of 2:20
I'll bet Ian in my car, cold weather, no traffic could click off a 2:18.......I would have to buy track insurance to let him try though

Working on good track insurance. Stay tuned.
Can't agree :-)
I am not sure the rule of thumbs apply
RA1-2 sec=hoosier
Hoosier-2 sec=slicks
This means if I add slicks to the car I will do a 2:20? I might be faster, but not 2:20 fast (I still will make same stupid mistakes)
For an intermediate driver yes, but an advanced driver the difference between Hoosier and race shaved RA1 might be a second.

I did a test back in 2008 with my GT3 RS at Cal Speedway. I have plenty of track time at that track.
I ran MPSC 265/30R19 and 345/30R19 and also Michelin Blue slicks in 997 GT3 Cup sizes. Lap times: 1:52 on MPSC, 1:47 on Pilot SX.
If you put slicks on your Beetle, Reter will be history, and you'll be under 2:20s with your driving skills..

Slicks 5! seconds faster and we are back to my math.
This is becoming a dead horse until someone hands his car over fully insured. I'm looking into track insurance that will cover a coach :-)

Bone stock 997.2 GT3 3.8 on the stock tires with track alignment, very likely in the 1:53-1:54 range at the Roval. The GT3 RS 3.8 should be in the 1:50 - 1:51 range, as the key for a fast lap at the Roval is the speed through the bowl, and cars with low downforce hurt in here.
