There is a gigantic difference between us DE'ers and the pro's.
Eventually we get a respectable lap out of the car. It did 2:22 in GT3 and 2:20 in RS, respectable DE laptime, but there are guys lapping a couple seconds faster on Hoosiers.
Pro drivers can do it on lap 2 on any track in any car.
I guarantee you that Chris hall and the likes will hop in my car and go at least 3 seconds faster in lap 2 with one finger up their nose and my fat *** weighing the car down.....

I see no reason to drive at DE at rate where any unpredictable element can send me into a wall. It is just plain stupid and there is an autocross for those stunts anyway, how to go with all 4 contact patches at and above the traction limit. at least here on east coast there are no tracks where it would be safe enough to go above 8/10th most of the time with any safety zone left if you spin out and i personally saw enough hard hit cars by now to know those limits. you just think of that - a spilled paddle when someone went off track ahead of you, or any brakes issues in your own car, it is easy to turn hi speed fun into no fun at all with a wrecked $80K car.
only solution to me to start going way faster would be to get separate cheap car with full cage and fire suppression system and then i could experiment more knowing that even in worst case I risk somewhat $15-$20K top to rebuild it. like some of those spec miata guys who just dive into any corner with no slow down at all as they go 10/10 to drift limit there as i slow down to safe limits.

As a reference the 2009 GT3 Cup on slicks (the 3.6 420Hp Cup), a 2,500 lbs car with big aero and sequential shifter laps in the 2:11-2:12 range. The 2004 996 GT3 Cup laps in the 2:13-2:14 range (on slicks).
Something does add up with the 2:19s on the 997.1 GT3 with R6 and a 200 lbs passenger. Was this car stock? There is a massive amount of modified GT3 here in Florida. I call BS on this one.
200 lbs passenger costs me 2.4 secs at PBIR, a smaller track than Sebring. Slicks improve lap times at Sebring by 2 secs over R6. The RS 3.8 is 2.3 secs faster than the 997.1 GT3 at Sebring. There is no way a stock GT3RS 3.8 on slicks is running 997 GT3 Cup lap times.
However, using TRAKCAR's lap times and his data on RA-1 (2:20s on a semi-stock GT3 RS3.8), a Pro could drop 2 secs from his laps, and slicks would drop 3 secs over shaved RA-1. 2:15s on slicks on a slightly modified GT3 RS3.8 or 2:16s on a stock GT3 RS 3.8 on slicks is credible (with a Pro driver), but lap times 4 seconds faster than this for the same car, not happening.

That GT3 was not stock. Exhaust, LSD slicks, ring and pinion, well setup at Orbit for Sebring.
It gran great that day and Chris hall ran 2:195 that day with owner jeff in the car 250lbs. It happened.3That car was no faster than my car. I think a Pro can take easy a couple of seconds, Hoosiers another second or 2 and Slicks another second or 2. I say a pro can take my car or any stock RS with a working diff and get to a 2:15/2:16, but maybe not on lap 2 as he did on the GT3.
I am sure of 2 seconds with the same car, maybe 3, maybe more then 4 if you are Henzler or Bergmeister and the Porsche likes if they have them set it up the car to their liking, etc. Slicks and Hoosier would drop that time another 4 or 2 seconds further still me thinks.
I lose 1.4 seconds with a 180lb passenger and that is on top of my 250lb fat as.
