I love my car even more today
I'm helping my sister acquire a 2010 Boxster S and it was delivered today from back east. My last car was a gen 2 Cayman S which I loved. Today I got in the Boxster and drove it a little bit and was shocked how soft and imprecise everything felt now that I'm used to the GT3. Clutch: soggy. Brakes: mushy. Gear shift: vague. This is a great car by just about every measure but compared to the GT3... If/when the day comes when I don't get a huge smile before I get in/get out of my car, I will just go test drive a less focused car. This car has spoiled me for life.

+1!!
Just got done shopping cars for my wife replacing her CL65. Drove cars comparable to the white BMW535 I with the M sport package we finally settled on. The CL always felt like a rocket with OK handling, but now I know that CL handled pretty damn well and the RS is on a different planet altogether.
All cars where $60-$80K msrp, loaded all 4000lb up with vented seats, some massage seats, "sporty" packages, 7-8 speed trans, etc., but geez they all feel slow and clumby if you try to hussle them. At relaxed road driving speeds all is OK, but don't take them to the track, or even a canyon road...
The thing was, the faster versions felt just as cumsy only faster in the straights.....

Having shifted a GT3 I agree that the shifter is very soft and imprecise on the Boxster. Brakes I'm sure are not as good and I think it has to do with the master cylinder and brake pads. I wish Porsche would put some of these nice upgrades into the Boxter/Cayman, it would make such a difference!

YES, certainly agree... this may sound real stupid and spoiled, but I just sold my 2012 Cayman R, 6 speed, for a 2011, GT3RS!!
The Cayman R was great in turns, but the GT3 RS is a real race car... a beast.
Really do not get much time to drive, so I want it to be a Le Mans race car.
lost much $ on the sale of mine, but I am so very happy! What a difference!

Funny short story:
Before I purchased my GT3 I wanted to test drive one so I can feel the difference between the two cars. After the test drive (which was a lot of fun btw) I get back in the C2S but the car feels weird. The clutch feels so soft that I thought there was something wrong with it so I went back to the dealership to get it checked out. After arguing with the tech for 2 minutes I went back in the C2S

It definitely didn't help yesterday that I took a 300+ mile mountain drive on some of the best roads Socal has to offer. When I got home all I could think was "hmmm...where else can I drive?" and "when's the next track day?". I'm slowly getting over the "preserve resale" instinct and thinking about putting a piece of black tape over the odometer

I definetely relate to sin911 experience. Used to drive an M6 which was quick but no fun. Tested a low mileage 997.1 GT3 and a 997.2 GT3 back to back, got hooked but ... I had to be "rational" and tested a C2S (a default street choice). Nice car but not nearly close to the GT3, which I ended up buying when I got across the right spec for the street.... never looked back.

Me too! I've had my 3 RS for about a month now and nothing else compares. It is absolute hoot to drive. I drive it to the office on nice weather days, disturbing the peace with my newly installed Sharkwerks exhaust. I've got a grin on my face every time I get out of it.
