Its normal. My GT3 is pretty new and also puffs a lot of smoke each time the car is started. It is an undocumented special feature!

Sometimes i feel like people are thinking to themselves that i am some ****ty owner who doesn't take care of his car when i start her up and the smoke puffing feature is on.

While we're on the subject, these things are also normal:
  • A weird "sproing!!!!" noise from the front suspension sometimes when driving over a bump
  • the lightweight flywheel that sounds like it's going to disintegrate when you're off the clutch at idle
  • a loud "BRAAAAAP!" that sounds like a machine gun sometimes when you first start the car
  • brakes that squeal like banshees if you haven't been to the track in a while
  • creaky driver's door when you drive over bumps
  • the urge to rev the engine when sitting at red lights

What a waste. Stop doing that. After that many miles she should be on the track. You may short shift to 7500 for the first session

I now start my car with the garage door closed and drive out along with the gigantic cloud of blue smoke for maximum bat cave like effects hihi..
I do close my windows before starting.

+1, except it's more like a Crraakkk, like sprockets grinding noise.

When it clunks and rattles under the car your sway bar is loose.

Default "BRAAAAP!" Noise

I'd also like to know what is the cause of the noise Nugget describes so eloquently in his 3rd bullet. I hear this same noise coming from the rear often on start-up after the car has been unused for several days and it is scary. It sounds like something is self-destructing back there.

My GT3 has 21,000 km and still puffing smoke sometimes no matter if it was parked for one hour or 1 week,

Front Suspension noises, Crraaakkkkkkkkking sometimes, it needs regular wheel balance if used as DD otherwise a lot of steering vibration, brakes squeal all the time.

But after some 1000s km the more the car used the smooth it become and much more responsive. I love it

Anyone know the reason for the smoke. It's so random, time between starts seems to have nothing to do with a puff of smoke coming out or not on startup.

Hello
Regarding startup smoke I have noticed that it will not smoke if I idle the car for 2 minutes before shut down. I also do believe that 5W40 oil instead of 0W40 will decrease the puff-smoking. Both oils are approved by Porsche so nothing to worry about.

Regarding the clonk noise 2 sec after starting which to me sounds like clonk+grrrrrr (clonk + grinding noise) will disappear if the clutch is depressed longer than 2-5 sec. I was convinced the noise came from the AC compressor clutch as it engages 1-2 sec after start-up but that was not the case. The noise must therefore come from the clutch/gearbox area but I cannot understand what the reason is. Dealer tells me it is the clutch and it is normal (car is a RS 2008 with only 4500km only). What could cause this noise in a clutch ?
