anything above the 911, i'd go upmarket and get an aubo. porsche is all about the 911. above this, no one will recognize it and at this price point of luxury/exclusivity, image counts.

Looks pretty good to me. Assume platform sharing with Gallardo and R8?

I would think that that would not align with the Porsche's philosophy and engine/trans architecture.

Also, I don't like that the article hints at using the turbo V8 from the Panamera or a turbocharged version of their race engine.

If Porsche turbocharges this engine i would be very disappointed in their developmental effort. Especially if they are trying to take straight aim at the 458 and Gallardo.

My question Would Porsche dare develop a flat-8? It would be something special, unique and Porsche. And can it be that hard to add two cylinders to an engine?

I'll believe it when I see it. As implied above, VW already has the Gallardo and R8 in this rather small segment, and the Aventador at the upper end.

Unless this is the replacement for the R8...

Love how the Car is an illustration of what someone thinks it will look like. Just wish they would leave the illustrations out of it and have the reader imagine what their own versions would be

If Porsche develops and markets this car as a super GT3/RS (as in the car that is meant for the track) then i don't think it will cannibalize sales of the R8 or Gallardo too much from my armchair perspective.

The R8 is too cushy, the Gallardo too exotic for track work (Not to say they can't be tracked). Giving Porsche the opportunity to fill a niche market and take on Ferrari/Scuderia like they want to.

Also, the 911 competes with the R8 in Price, even more so now after the 991 refresh. The R8 V10 is more in line with what the price of the 961 would be.

Looks nice from the front.

Looks like a panamera from the back

Twin turbo = not for me.
