I have these coming, they are OEM shocks that were used instead of the bumper supports. Since they are OEM I have a little more confidence in them working and surviving a 5mph test...

If you go to the NASA weekend at Sebring end of March we can discuss this further. I should have it on the car by then.

This looks like a good hitch solution.

I wonder why they use a diff bumper attachment piece? Is it hardier? Its interesting they addressed this attachment point. Mine is super rigid w the reinforcement now.

Do those "shocks" actually compress? How did you order this kit? I can't find a website for their company.

It's not a company per say, it's one guy who does them and is trying to build up clientele. I don't think the market for 997/987/986 hitch mounts is a big one, nobody is going to get rich off that product.

You can email him here- michael.furnish@navy dot mil (replace the "dot" with .) and he'll get back to you within a day or two.

Those "shocks" are parts that were superseded by our current bumper mounts I think. It would make sense- those mounts probably get destroyed in a real collision just like the crappy new ones. You can get them from a boneyard like LA Dismantlers.

Update...

So I finally picked up my trailer today- as usual life got in the way of getting these sorts of things done.

Trailer is shorter than the car, no problems with the 4 pin harness, pretty happy with the results.

Do either of you new trailer owners have any interior pics while loaded up?

Why shouldn't he? He's a jealous 924 owner who can't even pronounce the name of the car correctly.

I don't. But I can take some. Not much too see. Just a pile of tires, a go ped, and misc tools, etc...

Hitch- see post #44 in this thread.

Trailer- see post #34 in this thread.

Install for the hitch and wiring harness was by Champion Motorsport.

Trailer's custom added height allows me to stand my track wheels up- the box size is 48"w x 72"l x 31"t. That gives me a bit of room to throw a jack, JP jack stands, and even an EZ Up in it if I want. The top has been modified to strap down a kart on it- I can now do day trips with a friend in his pickup with one kart in the bed and the other on the trailer and can leave the 14' ATC at home.

Any Aluma Trailer dealer can custom order the trailer for you. It's an Aluma AE46 with custom height to fit 27" diameter wheels upright. In theory you can knock off 2-3" of height and have enough clearance but I like having some safety margin.

Here's the link to the manufacturer's product page.

Quick Reply: Okay, so I finally got the tire trailer.
