chris, you doing 30 - 40 laps in a row, or in a day? if in a row, it's too many. you and your car should be out there for 20 minutes max, then both of you should take a break to cool down.

Jimmy, 30-40 laps then in for a tank of gas and drink and breather... 150-200 laps in a day... Car and brakes are running perfect, tyres well they are shreading... It costs a **** load to get a v8 supercar driver out for the day so we are both making the most of it... Track time is what I need to develop and we are getting plenty of that.
I was at Winton on Tuesday and we did 450kms+ on track ( limited only by a couple heavy downpours or it would have benn more like 600). Its amazing what these cars can do, even the motorsport technicians there are impressed.
Extreme track daying...

Jimmy, sessions r 60-90min each or basically till fuel light comes on. Winton has shorter straights so peak speed is shy of 200. Water temp stays nailed at 80c and oil temp 90-100c all day long. Brakes on srf so no fade issues... Tyre degredatn is high bt nt going 4 best laps, getting max seat time 2 learn car as i push it more. Phillip island is way harsher on brakes thus 30-40min sessions...

that's intense, chris! yes, car can cope, but keep tabs on tyre pressures/temps and brakes. as you get quicker, these will become an issue.
that's a very long time to be running the car non-stop.

It is interesting that the cup rotor and the street rotor are different in thickness by 2mm. Maybe the cup rotor is the older of the two and the common thickness then was 30mm? Or, maybe the factory wanted 30mm thickness to allow 1mm more pad thickness for each pad?
Anyone know the history? (sorry for being such a geek)

my r32 is close....31.6ltr/100km. only average 6ltr/100km on the road.
car is at best when fuel light comes on - can actually feel it, then look and the light comes on. funny when going through turns and power cuts out as minimum fuel has sloshed to the other side, so no feed.

33l is 8.73 Gallon for 62.5 miles = 7.16 MPG. Must be less WOT at that track then Sebring.
The 3.8's empty 16 gallons in 80 miles, or about 45 minutes or 5MPG at Sebring.
Not bad but the 3.6 did it in 100, better then 6MPG.

Phillip island on the other hand is way faster, way less range per tank...

Funny you should say that. I am just about to change my discs (see other thread running) and was talking to shop about pads. they had a pad for a 997 Cup (2006 model i think) and although it was very similar it was 2mm thicker than the pad for the gen 2 rs street car (this was rs29's).
The Street rotors and Cup rotors are different thickness due to each having different pad thickness which they utilize.
The Street version runs a pad that is 18 mm thick
The GT3 Cup version runs a pad that is 18.5 mm thick
The GT3 Cup S & Grand Am spec run pads that is 22 mm thick.
Starting this fall we will be offering a direct replacement for the GT3 street / Cup which you will not out have to Modify (notch) your front brake pads.

Also, keep in mind that each of these pads have a different Clearance Arc. This means that each rotor assembly is slightly different in its Hat Configuration.
