Cup car 3 piece BBS wheel repair ...
Everything about this Cup car is new to me and that includes servicing the 3 piece BBS wheel. My Cup car came with 3 sets of BBS wheels and one rear wheel had a bend outer rim and one front wheel has a slow leak. It was easy to take them apart but ... how do I seal them back up to prevent future leak? Replace the O-ring with rubber seal vs just applying some sort of silicon sealant?
I did bunch of research and looks like alot of folks don't bother to replace the sealing rubber O-ring from BBS since they fail with time and just apply silicon sealant along the exposed seam. Some suggested Dow Corning 832 silicon sealant:

I could not find the replacement BBS sealing O-ring any where. I think it is an exclusive Porsche motorsports parts as shown by #4 on the following diagram
Here is what the wheels look like. Bend outer rim on the rear wheel and slow leak from the one of the front wheel
The rubber seal on the rear wheel is exposed vs concealed set up for the front wheel
The replacement outer rim for the rear wheel
The 20+ bolts required a 12 points 8 mm socket which was hard to find
Here is what the sealing O-ring look like
Everything apart
Anyone has a good suggestion on how to get rid of caked on tire rubber??

That is one advantage of BBS street CL wheels, all the parts are the same as on all the CUP cars, so every CUP car team has these parts with them on track.
I bent a few inner and outer rings (Some shade three hack replacing tires near the track) and replaced one seal so far. Most issues have been valve stems if I had a leak.

Orbit seemed somewhat surprised I needed one after 30 or so track days..
Still in ffrom after Mancation, I should pick up 8 wheels, all repaired and balanced, TPS checked with fresh RA1's this week.

You can try a wire wheel on a drill to get rid of the rubber built up along the inner rim shell.
For sealing you can purchase new BBS sealing rings or you can use sealant. The stuff you pictured works extremely well, that is what we use.
If you are going to use sealant, make sure the surface is clean. Fill the small valley that is created between the rim shells when they are assembled and smooth over with a finger to ensure no gaps.
The advantage to the BBS sealing ring is that is easily servicable in the field at the track. Minimal cleaning to repair a wheel and no waiting hours for the sealant to cure are the main benefits.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion. Now I just need to find a local store that carry the Dow Corning 832 silicon sealant. So far I only found online stores that sells the thing

No worry Jeff, it will be a pain to have it ship from Canada and I need them in the next day or two. It will be easiler for me to try couple local stores first such as Grangers. Appreciate the offer

From: Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away....
i go through outters and inners like toilet paper on these wheels.
typically you should replace the hardware each time you repair or rebuild depending hours of use....
i dont know about sealant?? BBS strongly discourage it. I would just get a set of their rings...
I have being dealing with Eric at BBS motorsport. i will PM you his email.
