Here, from Wednesday. Go to post #5 https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...t-mosport.html

One of those monster Vettes. Lost a wheel in the process and moved the wall, ouch (pic in post #11).

Happened at T3, which is not even one of the tricky ones...

cwhota- actually, I think the CD belongs to Jerry Horton:-) I bought the car from him and that CD was in the player.... only thing I ever listened to going to/from track.

I would be happy to tell you about my "incident" with the car. Quite embarrassing really. Was quite a car when I obtained it and if you got it back to even 90% of what it was, you have sweet car! I purchased another, very nice, 6-GT3 that truly felt numb compared to that car. I really am glad you got it back together. I also have a few parts (including the solid subframe mounts that Rad eluded to, I think) left over and in my garage.

Shoot me an email... larocque.todd@gmail.com

Is car then in Montreal? One of my favorite places to visit.

By any chances is that the Zooropa U2 CD? it's the only one missing from my CD case. I went twice to their 360 Tours. My favorite band in college, and still one of the best bands in the World IMHO.

Hi Rad

I will look in to the U2 cd tomorrow, the car is at the shop and it is still in the player where Todd left it lollll, the engine/tranny is out. i'm replacing the clutch bering alingment tube and fork, i was beginning to experience clutch problem. The rest is fine. I'm putting it back togather tomorrow night ( i do everything my self with friends ;o) ) So at this point i kind of beginning to know those car.

Thanks for the mods list, i figured most of them but it is really nice to have the complete story

If i can pick your brain here a little, i would like to know more about the moton setup. the moton are running 750F / 1000R now. Do you remember what gaz presure you were running and sway bar position to obtain the best out of them, i'm still experiensing Also tow and camber

Just a teaser

I rebuilt the Moton completely, change 1 shaft, all new seal and oil etc, fabricated all the tools to do that. Change the stobli quick connect at the back to upgrade them to the big one, did a rebuild of the front stobli quick connect (seal valve and pin)

Also had to change 2 hupper link bar at the back because the spherical bering were stuck. i ask a small machine shop i know to copycat them : 40$ ea ;o) Manage to save the spherical bering. Same goes with one of the front camber plate.... and the list goesssss onnnnnn

Moral to this story: if you have a girlfriend or a wife you like, dont do that, if you have a wife you hate, do it it is cheaper then a divorce and more fun. I say that because i had a girlfriend i liked a lot

Anyway, the car is back on the road, street legal, everything past all the inspection that are hard. see pic before going there just finish the project(hi suspension and no cage)

I will post a rebuilt story if it intrest anybody, i have many pics

Be aware that the tips here apply to this car, due to its weight distribution, wheels tires and suspension modifications.

This car was setup to run 18x10 and 18x12 wheels. CCW made the very first set on this size for my car, it was an experiment, I sent John @CCW the offsets and it worked.

Wheel Specs: Front: 18"x10" ET32, 6 3/4" back spacing. Rear: 18"x12" ET 57 back spacing 8 3/4"

Tires: Hoosier 285/30/R18 and 335/30R18

On these wheels and tires a stock 996 GT3 would be neutral. The 996 GT3 has its happy place at 600# front springs and 800# rear springs per several shops (for DOT-R tires), one of them the highly respected Fordahl Motorsports they were very helpful with this car. The 750#/1000# are 25% stiffer than the 600/800 combo, but this car requires it using these wider Hoosier.

I also ran GY, Yoko, Dunlop slicks in that car.

Sway bars set at one from full stiff front and rear. For AutoX and small tracks, I ran the rear bar full stiff.

Tire pressures, 28 psi front and 32 psi rear hot.

Moton CS canisters nitrogen pressure: front 175 psi, rear 225 psi.

With the LSD (a lot tighter than a stock unit) and the suspension, that car was very stable on the rear end.

I ran at the stock ride height -10mm rear and -15mm front.

With A/C, radio, full interior, carpets, no rollbar, no fuel, that car hit the scales at 2,880 lbs. Exactly, 250 lbs lighter than a stock 996 GT3 with no fuel.

I ran it with no carpets, no glovebox, no door panels, no passenger airbag, no side airbags, no passenger seat at the 2006 SCCA Solo Nationals, it hit the scales at 2,770 lbs.

These days there are parts to make it even lighter. The 997 GT3 RS wheel carriers (4 of them) allow the 996 to run 10mm lower and the save a total of 10 lbs. There is a lighter flywheel that saves another 6 lbs. The Aluminum doors from the 997 Turbo/GT3/CayR/Spyder fit the 996 GT3 and save another 34 lbs. There are seats from Recaro (Pole Position Carbon) with aluminum hardware that save another 8 lbs per seat. The Li-Ion batteries (I have one on my Fiat) can help on another 8 lbs over the LW battery I had in that car. It is very easy to get the car on the 2,800 lbs range with no fuel and full interior.

I had 2 sets of BBS Magnesium wheels that saved 30 lbs over the CCW wheels. With these wheels, dry weight would be 2,770 lbs with the additional parts above.

Then you can add GT3 Cup bumpers, rear deck lid, carbon hood, carbon fenders, cargraphics carbon doors, lexan RS rear window, Cup lexan rear side windows, and the cargraphics LW carpets. All these modifications get the car 180 lbs lighter. A little under 2,600 lbs with no fuel, and full street legal with AC, radio, airbags, cats, upholstered interior, power windows/locks/mirrors.

...I'm thinking on building another.

I regret to have sold that car. I bought mooty's 997 GT3 RS to go slower and look better. This is why my 997 GT3 RS ownership didn't last.
