I recently did the front end of my RS in xpel ultimate. I'm very happy with this film after trying almost every other brand out there. It's very clear with almost no orange peel and super resistant to swirls and scratches. Highly recommended!

Is the "ultimate" also the self healing one or is that a separate line of film?

Also is there a place I can buy precut templates for the 997.1gt3? I'm looking for front bumper and hood. I can apply it myself.

FF to 1:40 and 5:50 LOL.
Trakcar, you look scarily like me

Next time you get to do this 'carpark' event use more throttle movement, like big/sharp blips instead of a throttle set, its hard to balance the throttle exactly. The blips will give you more control... faster deeper blips and more revs= more sideways!

Like the black steering wheel trim, did you do this or is it a Pcar option?

Back on subject Xpel, do you have an Australian importer?

Thanks
Jay

You can get all the parts from xpel.com, though unless you have experience with it, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

@Ur20v, PM sent.

Looks like there is no way to get the hood piece by itself. I assume the bumper kit probably requires a heat gun to deal with the center curved nose of the bumper which makes the difficulty high. How close to the edge do your kits wrap up to? Does the hood piece wrap around the edge or ends at the edges?

Yes, you can order individual pieces. Orders like that just have to be called in to customer support so they can customize them for you. Same with the wrapped edges. All of our products have the option to wrap appropriate edges around to the back of the panel, but due to limitations with our web site, you have to call them in. All edges that are not specified to wrap (or cannot be wrapped due to some obstical on the car) fit to within 1/16th inch of the edge.

No heat is required to install the kits. The film has enough elasticity to contour without warming it up. However, and I am just stating this again to be sure the point has been made, I don't recommend trying installation without specialized training. It is a lot harder than it looks to get a perfect installation.

Oh, and I also realized I never answered your question about Ultimate. Yes, Ultimate is our self-healing film.

Sorry to hear that. You look somewhere between a fat Bruce Willis and Shrek as well?

All thicker rim oem CLA steering wheels are black, looks much better then the std and 4.0 IMHO. My two 3.8'a both had it (Shrek hands)

We are still negotiating with a group there to handle that part of the world.

My hood, fenders and mirrors have Xpel and its held up better than the 3m on the front bumper...a big difference. I had the bumper redone yesterday with Xpel! Car looks brand new again!

We just took off our old clear bra film and installed Xpel Ultimate full hood, bumper, full fenders, full doors and custom rear impact area! Looks beautiful. I'd post a picture, but you can't see the film! That's the idea right!?

my xpel ultimate didn't fare too well when deputy dog and I went in a gravel trap at Road Atlanta. the rocks broke through it in a lot of places. But to be fair, maybe no film would have gone through that w/o some damage.

Xpel, is the only difference between the 30" and non 30" front bumper piece for the 997.1 GT3 is the split on the bottom portion of the bumper?

vs.

I'm not sure what 30" refers to. Both seem to cover the same amount and the split just helps with installation as you have more room for error.
