need price 2007 GT3 RS
A friend just called me and want to buy a 2007 GT3 RS with 9,000 miles on it.
He is a good driver and has been tracking a 2003 C2 with all the motorsport control arms and Motons. He finally has deciced he needs more horsepower.
dealer has above car listed at $113,000 What is fair price? QUICK Answer Please?

I'm pretty sure I've looked at the car you are referring to. Orange, PCCB, painted center console, bi-xenon. After following the sale of four cars in the last two months, my best guess is 97-99 presuming it gets a CPO. I spoke with a salesman and they are going to need to sit on the car for awhile before the realize what the market is.
I am very close to closing a deal on a 6000 mile 2008, orange, PCCB, xenon.... The car has 3 months of original warranty remaining and will get an additional two years with CPO.
You might check out the white 2007 at BMW of Fairfield VA. Steel brakes, 8000 miles, $90k or $94 with euro seats and roll bar.

yes, it is Bill. The orange bar has been removed and is available for reinstall but this car looks great and has carbon back folding seats. The price is a little high and this is the end of the track season here. I explained the bump in displacement to a 3.8 for the Gen. II car but we all have GT3s and he wants into the club. Dealer quoted him a discount but it is still over 100.

Yes, sounds like the same car. No type 2 overrevs and 16 type 1. How any one could get 16 is a crazy amount. My car has 30,000 + type 1s.

If he's looking in the 997.1 range, I think most people would think the nonRS GT3 is the better buy (same horsepower after all).
I needed the extra head room that the sunroof delete on the RS gave (I sat in a GT3 with the 996 GT3 Seats and a helmet on, and I had to angle my head to fit, and I couldn't see doing that on the track).
113 is more than I paid for my low-optioned RS two years ago - they've come down quite a bit since then, even so, I would look at a GT3. Now, if Bill wants to move into the .2 era, a lot of people on here would say the RS is worth the extra money. If it wasn't for the wife and the centerlocks, I would offer to sell Bill my car and get a .2, but as you well know (by being brave enough to sit in the right seat of my car), I still have plenty of learning to do, so I will consider that when I can drive my current car to 9/10 of its capabilities.

I may have mentioned this already but between my car ADD and access to many cars through business and personal relationships I seem to change cars frequently. I previously owned a 997.1 GT3, 997.1 GT3RS, 997.2 GT3RS, and I drove my friends .2 GT3. IMHO I would go with the 997.2 GT3 for the same money as the .1 RS especially if he is interested in tracking the car. If his desire is simply to own a .1 RS then I think that one is priced a bit high.
The .1 RS is pulling low 80's to mid 90's wholesale the last time I checked so at $113 your friend would be upside down by at least $10k and upwards of $20k. Then again it's safe to say purchasing a Porsche is as much emotional as it is logical.

It really depends what you want. If the car will see regular track duty, no need to pay a premium for a premium example. That being said, the best price that I have seen is $85K. That deal was a lease return where the leasee wasn't going to keep the car, but could probably pocket a few dollars above what ever the residual was by selling it. I don't recall the specs on the car. What would seem to be the best bargain on the market at the moment is a White/Black 2007 at BMW of Fairfield VA. The car has roughly 8000 miles, steel brakes, halogen headlights and is a very low option car. It might be a really good car for track duty given the steel brakes. They have Euro seats and a roll bar that can be included for an additional
$4K. I spoke to a salesman a few weeks ago and they were willing to sell the car for $90k. The risk with this car is that it is out of warranty and is an early .1 build. Some of the early .1 cars have been reported to have defective engine cases. I also don't know the condition of the tires on this car, a set of tires would add $2700-$3000 to the price.

If I were to sell it today for say $85k, what could I possibly get that comes even remotely close to this experience on or off track???
I hope the day never comes when I have to sell
