So when one does the 5 lug swap are you using wheels spec’d for a .1 car? Reason I ask is because BBS recommends a different rear lip/barrel for a .2 than a .1 due to flange height differences when talking E88’s.

I have a set of .1 spec E88’s and not sure if they’ll be the right setup in the rear if I convert my .2 over to 5 lug or not.

The attachment mechanism doesn't really matter. Two factors that matter here
  1. Wide body vs narrow body.
  2. What sub model of .1 was the wheel for and what sub model of .2 is it transferring on to.
.1 GT3(narrow body) and .2 GT3(narrow body)
  • .1 GT3(19x8.5 53mm Front, 19x12 68mm Rear) and .2 GT3(19x8.5 53mm Front and 19x12 63mm Rear)
    • The offset is slightly different but the wheels would still fit.
.1 RS(wide body) and .2 RS(wide body)
  • .1 RS(19x8.5 53mm Front, 19x12 51mm Rear) and .2 RS(19x9 47mm Front, 19x12 48mm Rear)
    • front wheels is wider on the .2 and offsets are slightly changed but the wheels would still fit

I have a set of 5 lug E88's spec'd for a narrow body .1 car GT3 and am looking at .2 narrow body GT3 cars to convert to 5 lug so I can use them.

The .1 cars, both NB and the WB RS come with a 5mm spacer stock from the factory. That may be why the 5mm difference in rear wheel offsets.

Great call out @RAudi Driver that explains the 5mm difference between .1 and .2

does this mean wide body wheels will fit on narrow body cars if you remove the spacer?

I don't know what to say, I've loaned my wide body wheels to a narrow body driver and it worked out just fine. We left the rear spacers off. I note your specs above don't mention or account for the 5mm spacers.

Not necessarily and here's how it breaks down:

Narrow body OEM !2" wheels are a +68.
Wide body is a +51.

That's a 17 mm difference.

So even if you take off the 5mm spacers then throw on a set of WB wheels, you'll be pushed out 12mm. Without a lot of negative camber, you're gonna rub.

On another note, when I picked up my 2007 RS, many know this car as the Ron Barnaba car with the Champion wheels that kept people from buying the car. The owner had Ron shod the car with a set of OEM wheels to help the sale. I purchased the car and received both the Champions and the OEM's. It was nice as I sold the Champions and recouped a little cash. However, after having the car for a few days, I realize that the back wheels were sucked in and then realized that they had put NB wheels on my RS. Not to fear as Ron purchased to brand new WB wheels from Porsche for me. Ron Barnaba was a stand up seller.

On the 5 lug conversion, what are you torquing the lug nuts to?
