DJN, on my black car...which I don't want black wheels again....I was thinking about either glossy painted silver center or glassy painted grey center and polished lips. Thoughts?

Hey mdrums,

As mentioned above I do like the silver painted centers......

But the overall effect depends on whether you want a blingy look or an understated look?

Blingy: polished rim with silver center,
Extra Blingy: brushed on both the center and inner
Understated: brushed or nickle rim with silver center

Thinking outside the box though you might want to consider a Matte Bronze rim and Matte Black center......there is a picture of this wheel in the Forgeline GA3 (not GA3R) section-------I think it would be spectacular on a black car, rich, understated, and a subtle shift from the all black look.

You decide! Enjoy!

Thanks Doug...I'll check out the bronze thing....sounds nice...I wonder how durable to heat and scratches it is?

I 1st have to get Forgeline to get the offsets correct as they are all over the place from email to email....which honestly has me worried and then I see how they messed up masmoles car and now I'm not so sure about them getting mine correct.

Here's what Doug is talking about... matte bronze rim - I like it! Should look great on a black car, either that or you can go titanium rim maybe as an alternative non-bling outer finish to contrast the matte black center?

I wouldn't say they messed up my car. Perhaps it was the hoosier's beefiness (compared to typical 235/35/19 tires) that's the real issue? Maybe other tire makes clear no problem? Either way, they've been great to work with so far, which is more than I can say for other wheel manufacturers I've dealt with before, but won't name names.

The Hoosier 235/35r19 tires is 10.2" inches wide compared to a Michelin at 9.8 and a Toyo at 9.5" I believe that is most of our issue here. These wheels were built at a +49 and frankly you really cannot go much further inward past a +51. And based on those pictures, 2mm won't make any difference. In the future for 19" wheels, we will be recommending 19x8.5's for the GT3 (non RS) unless the customer is definitely going to run a Toyo or Michelin.
There have been several people stating that 9" wheels are the way to go and I agree with that in 18" as we have never had an issue with any 18" Hoosier, Toyo Or Michelin on our 9" wide wheel. However that appears to be different in 19"
Is anyone is running a 19x9 with a Hoosier out there successfully?

why not to rotate upper mounts to let wheel 'dive' into wheel well a bit?

Thanks for clarifying, Dave. I'm glad we can get this sorted out quickly. You guys rock. And I love the wheels.

Question I have is I've always been told to go with the widest wheel for a given tire size possible as it's better to stretch a little than to go on the narrow side of a tires spec. So with that in mind a 235/35/19 tires spec is 8-9.5 wide rim. So should a track tire in this size be on at least a 9" wide rim?

If I am totally wrong please explain. Thanks!

I have to agree with the fact that you want to go with the widest wheel for the tire whenever you can. It spreads the tire out more and you getter a bigger contact patch. However, that is not always possible if you do not have the room.

Hey again mdrums!!!!

I believe that it is diffcult the have enough variation in offsets when building/engineering a 3 piece wheel because the rim halves are only availble in 1/2inch increments.

Sure it is nice to have an extra 1/2inch of rim to stretch/firm up the tire, but I'll bet 1/2 inch isn't going to have an effect on the front of a 997 when the factory uses a 8.5" rim and a 235 tire. Ask the question, will 235/19 Hoo-hoos fit using the 8.5" rims and the corresponding offset (51mm I think)? I am am pretty sure they do.

I just ordered my new 19" wheels today and went 8.5 up front - but I stay away from Hoo-hoos, motorcyles, olives, hornets, and other things that are bad for me, or my bank account!

Cheers!

Anyone know what Forgeline 3pc 8.5x19 and 12x19 weigh in Center Lock Copetition series?
Thanks for all the helpful replies!

LOL I stay away from motorcycles too...that is how I lost my entire left leg...got hit by an on coming car.

Here are the Forgeline wheels I am really considering....except in center locks....either silver center like int he picture or a glossy grey center.

I guess from reading these last few posts I need to go with a 8.5x19 et51 front and the stock GT3RS offset in the rear for a 12x19 is et48???????
