PBOC Daytona Oct 21 - 23

I was looking at the videos and realized that the cars stay around 1.0G of lateral force all the way thru the banks, that is your answer on why the tires get corded so quick. Spring loads, and lack of solid bits on the suspension would be the biggest factor along with the lateral loads.

I did Daytona a couple years ago with the Fiat club. Fun track to do once a year. It's an experience to be there but not my favorite by any stretch.
Nick and I will be running there again with the Fiat club next weekend.
How were more or less identical cars pulling you on the straights? Is it your aero settings?
Did the dive planes stay glued on at 170?

Yes, a fun thrill ride, but once a year is enough for me as well.
Yes, everything stayed flued on, the Gurney flap too and the wing did not move.
Grady has headers, different gearing and less wing, John the same as Grady but the same wing as me, but maybe slightly different gearing / grip with Hoosiers maybe a bit leass rear wing.
I'd gladly give up some speed to be firmly plated :-)

Also you will use a lot of fuel because you will be flat to the floor a lot. Daytona Speedway fuel pumps are 98 octane Sunoco and are $8+ a gallon. Your car doesn't need 98 so be prepared to come off track and head out side to find fuel. I went to the Shell station to the left of the track

I ran one day....the sidewall of my right rear was buckled. I was running it 41 psi hot
Daytona is fun.....but the rick of an incident is high
Be careful

yes. When I go to Daytona, I have my prep shop give me a Daytona alignment which essentially means take negative camber out of the rear tires. You don't want to experience a tire blow out at Daytona because you didn't spend a few bucks to properly align your car for this track.

Last one...last laps late in the 1st day. This was the video fom my new Race Keeper that I'm having problems with the GPS not properly working. Also Race Keeper is claiming HD video but when I export the video to my computer it is not HD quality on Camparo or on any program on my computer.

Thanks Jeff....the sound on these video's stinks...I need a better exhaust! Everything in these video's seems so slow...you can't even tell I'm flat to the floor with throttle just right after mid bus stop and all the way down past the start/finish line....flat to the floor at the apex of T1 to the 1st horse shoe and flat to the floor to the kink...no brake...just breath a little throttle off to the next horseshoe....the video's to me seem lazy. I wasn't driving at 9-10/10th...but an easy 8-910th's with a few little slips here and there. My best for the 2 days I was there was a very low 2:09...I was consistant in the 2:10's and some low 2:11's. This is nothing compared to the RS drivers ont his forum...when I would see Peter (Trakcar) coming ont eh nascar banks I wouldn't even let up and he just cruised right on by me.
My best times in my Carrera S in 2009 were 2:12-13's so the GTS is a little faster or I am driving better a few years later...????

Here's a video from my last run on day two. This was my best run of the weekend. My fastest lap was 207.7 (although it went up to 2:08.5 when I moved my Traqmate start/finish to the official start/finish).
I didn't have time to review data until Saturday night. I would love to have had a chance to improve based on my observations, but unfortunately a mechanical failure I discovered Sunday morning ended the event for us early. Maybe next year!!
