Paul,
You'll not only get through this but will get a new PDK 991. And put a Manthey kit in it too!

Hope all goes well and you are back better than new. Modern medicine is incredible and I trust you'll be driving again soon.

Paul:

From one bad back guy to another the best of luck. Like you, I love the GT3 but the back does not, so a 09 C2S with PDK fills the bill rather nicely. Keep us informed and a special prayer for the Doc's skilled hands

Paul:

Something to think about as you recover. When they bought back my '07 GT3 and I got the '09 C2S I ordered it with adaptive sport seats for back support and numerous adjustments and they are comfortable. However when I got the Cayman a year ago to complement the Carrera I ordered it with Sport Bucket seats ( no power just manual back and forth. I am actually finding them better for my back then the Adaptive sport seats. Reason is simple, when you have a bad back lateral support means comfort. A little more interesting getting out but when I am in the seat my back feels supported and thus I relax. They are an expensive option through Porsche but since they are made by Recaro the Recaro Pole Position seats are almost identical except they do not lean forward for getting things in the back. I have actually driven 12c hours in a day in the Cayman with the Sport Buckets and my back feels OK ( OK is a relative thing when you are missing several discs.)

Nest subject when you can I will be happy to show you a few techniques to allow you to swing a golf club and protect your back. The majority of the students that came to my golf schools were middle aged and one of my goals was to show them ways to enjoy the game AND prevent injury or stress of old injuries. The human body and the golf swing don't really go together but there are slight adjustments you can make to reduce the strain and thus injuries. Best for a speedy recovery.

Its my back that drove me out of my beloved GT3s'
The are going to take out all the hardware that was put in there in 08 and replace it with a standard fusion. 3 out of four of my lower discs are shot.
This has also driven me from my job so I dont know if the chance for my back to be good enough for the GT3 again. Financially I just may not be able to buy one again. Unless someone needs a Government consulting engineer, those days may be gone.
One good think I got out of all this, is I discovered the 2009 Carrera S PDK.
a car I would have never looked at that before. I was a GT3 guy and I AM a GT3 guy and I will always BE a GT3 guy. Its like being a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine.
I am a little bit worried but who isnt with a major surgery. Its quite extensive.
3 discs replaced and two rods!! I hope the rods are Carbon Fiber!

SO if you have a tiny space in your prayers open tonite I would appreciate you
mentioning me.

If anyone has back problems and dont like to talk about it. If you need help and I can given you some ideas about different types of treament and procedures, and give you some tips on how NOT to do this.
OG - all the best! I'm sure you'll be fine. Our prayers are with you...
