^while you watch the .2rs pull you out of the corners with gearing and displacement :-)
The 'ring times for the 4.0 vs the 2RS don't suggest anything of the sort. I think it's plain and simple that on the straights, the 2RS continues to overcome wind resistance above "self preservation" speeds where the naturally aspirated neddies tend to be simply outnumbered by the forced induction Clydesdales 500 versus 620 ... even Gerard Butler and his 300 bare bellied buddies wouldn't want those odds if they could be avoided ... but I think it stands to simple logic that if the 2RS has ample power in the straight line, yet it's only ten seconds quicker around the ring in the course of seven and half minutes, then the 4.0 is making up the straights by finding time in the turns (you know ... where it's fun.)
We'll have to wait and see what the dyno charts and the side-by-side comparisons reveal in terms of apex speeds and split speeds for 0-100-0 or 0-300-0 (km/h) or zero to top speed to zero ... whatever the comparison so long as it's a reasonably fair fight.

I'm OK with that as long as I can go deeper into the corners and carry more speed through them. I'm sure the mkII RS owner will be psyched out by me riding his rear bumper and screw his turn so I can pass

Cgt - I meant .2 RS not gt2 RS... Just following up on previous post of $12k getting you good upgrades that will drop lap times, which I agree with, but again the superior gearing and increased displacement and hp of the .2 GT3 RS will still walk on the aforementioned $12k modded .1 RS with stock gears and no power adders
Sin: I agree with you as well... I am okay with it as well... corner exit speed is one of many facets of a quick lap and superior psych out tactics go a long ways... And that is how I podium my de days

WHAT?! No. Too late. Don't slow me down, I just built up a full head of steam on mistaken assumptions and I'm launched down the railway tracks of certitude like a freight train loaded with non-existent WMD's ... nothing can stop me now ... turbos are evil doers ... GT3's are democratic freedom on four wheels!

It's all good fun I'm not competing for a trophy. As long as I know I'm driving my car up to its capabilities I'm happy. My capabilities are limited much lower than the car's for now... But there is still light at the end of the tunnel
-New coilovers (JRZ or Moton)
-Solid suspension bits
-A new (working diff)
-Tires
That should be good for 4,5 seconds on a 2 minute course
Indeed...

@CGT - you owe me a new keyboard. Spit my coffee....

no you can't
moton with spring retails at around $7000
if you replace ALL the underpinning parts with monoball from tarrett, that's about $7000, if you use porsche parts, even more.
a GT diff, inc casing is 3000
tires 2000
add labor and tax.
whatever one's budget is, take that x3, then you are about right. trust me. i have done this MANY MANY MANY times.

Really? $7k for solid monoball bits? I had RSS bits on the previous car, cost about $3k.
LSD rebuild is about $1,600 plus labor
I dunno how much Motons really cost, but I know it cost about an arm and a leg
