MPSC: "I'm not dead yet" ...
In a few recent threads it had been mentioned that it appeared that the MPSC might be in some sort of "rampdown" or "End Of Life" due to lack of supply or
rumor from the distribution network ...
I checked with my contacts at Michelin US regarding this; the fact is the contrary is true; only last week Michelin announced a new version of the MPSC+ developed in conjunction with Corvette; a ZP (runflat) version for
maximum performace as part of the vette's optional 'competition' packages...
Additionally Porsche have also sanctioned/approved the combination of the N1 245/35-19 and (new) N2 325/30-19 fitments for the GT2RS.
In short, the MPSC is still in development and will be continuing to support the GT/RS platform until such time as a replacement is forthcoming.
inventory is probably small since this is a (relatively) low production tyre for the GT3RS and GT2RS markets world-wide.

Cool news Larry - thank you. In part, my thread was referring to the quote from Michelin UK saying the MPSC is still available and we do have little stock! It is unfortunate they did not mention this other news at the same time.
Lets hope they get going soon and make them in the original size tyres that came with our sparkly new cars!

I think part of the "problem" is that relative to other products the MPSC is a pretty low volume product worldwide ... so inventory is kept low ...

Larry or others....
For the track and to drive over to the track.... 100miles each way.... would you run:
stock sized MPSC in 19" (which I hear are not really a r-compound)
or
Toyo R888 in 18" sizes?????

I dont have experience with the R888 ... I am a BIG fan of the Corsas myself ... and the Super Sports also (although they are not R rated ... they are pretty damn good)

MPSC does not come in 18" for my car like the Toyo's do but lately it seems like more and more high perf tires are coming in 19" instead of 18". Seems like the R888 is the only 18" R- Comp tire with tread I can run on the street and track. No one else makes 18 R Comps in my sizes anymore.
I've thought about trying 19's for the track but have always been told with out a doubt that 18's are better for the track.
I ran at Sebring during one of our PCA DE's with a lead instructor and racer and we both have the same cars right down to the same mufflers...both 09 997 S w/PDK. We had this all planned out to go out together. He is a experienced racer...I'm just a DE guy. He was on 19" lightweight Champion wheels and 19" stock sized MPSC. I was on 18" CCW with R888. He could not hang with me in the corners and the back part of Sebring. I was follwoing him and his car was lose all over the place. I stayed right with him and he gave me a point by and I put a good few seconds on him. Cars are the same, his skills have to be better than mine.....was it the tires or 18 vs 19 or??????

I know the R888 is the Offical Hated Tire of Rennlist but I've had success with them and the much Rennlist loved RA1...but no more RA1's from Toyo. Some have said the Bridgestone RE11 is as good or better than the Toyo R888 and the RE11 is not a R compound either.

I personally would claim that it was the better driver!
In actuallity it was probably the compound and/or suspension settings ... and driver

My 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 are the same diameter as stock 235/35/19 and 305/30/19's.....so maybe it was the MPSC 19" not being a true R-Compound?
