I think at 185k + options it makes a much harder decision...obviously the gt2RS is an astounding car- the thing I find a bit disappointing as someone pointed out is that the 3RS 4.0 is only losing 24 lbs off the mk2...

Jenk Since you can do what ever you want I vote 4.0. It just sounds amazing.
You may have all next season to drive it, then figure out it its worth keeping over the 991.

Having said all that. I drove my PDK out to see that 928 today then drove the 928, then back in the PDK.
The 991 PDK will be a scaled cat. OR drive the new TT with a PDK. Have you done that yet?

If I could I would for the 4.0 RS

4.0
limited production
last of the popular 997
closest thing you can drive on the street to a RSR

If money is no object then absolutely the 4.0. What's the down side other than $$$$ if you're happy w/ the color? In fact considering what it cost to convert to a 3.9 it's a bargain topped off with collector status to really seal the deal.

I know the new generation is around the corner but like some others mentioned here I like the challenge of working the manual gear box and you know the PDK won't be the only new fancy gadgetry on the car. The only thing I don't like about my .1 RS is all the electronic BS.

Why is it that heavy if it has all the lightweight parts and then some. I heard a rumor that they added balasts up front for a better balance, man I hope that's not true.

NA, 500HP, 8000+ rpm, 4.0L, last of the GT's..... = no brainer!

....... until they bring out the next "no brainer"

I don't understand the question. RS 4.0 with no looking back.

Posted on another thread but my thoughts on weight:

Cup is 2640.

Adding back little things like airbags, street seats, passenger seat, all carpet, roof liner, 5mph bumpers, engine cooling fans, interior ventilation hardware, instruments, parking brake, yadda, yadda, yadda, and you start to add weight pretty quickly.

Short of going to an alu tub and all carbon body I don't see a lot more to gain on this platform.

I'm more than happy with this:

4.0 is my vote . GT2RS is still a fast and light turbo. I think i can buy a 997 Gt2 and make it perform like a Gt2rs for a lot less.

Both great cars! The choice is turbo or high revs...I choose high revs.

No PTS on either is a serious bummer. What an opportunity missed to have a really unique car. Even if the choice was only a color formerly used by Porsche recently and ok like Signal Yellow, Riviera Blue etc.
Some people managed PTS on the 2RS. I don't believe there were any in N.A. though.

Quick Reply: Which would you have. 2RS or 4.0RS
