Default Cobalt blue.. the MK1 that got away..

Before I had my RS I was really keen on a cobalt blue 7GT3. I missed the boat once when it was at a local dealer in 07. Then it came back to the same dealer in 09 where I again almost pulled the trigger but didn't in time. Now it shows up here for some goodies. At least I get to see it as we installed the SharkWerks Exhaust, our larger GT3 tips, the Cargraphic radiator screens and a TechArt Noselift system to help navigate those steep driveways. The EVOMSit software was also installed and calibrated for 91 octane.

On she goes:

Off with that bumper:

Next up is the heat-shields and then off comes the factory center exhaust:

On goes the new "stereo" system (along with some weight savings):

The stock tips are replaced with the SharkWerks 88mm ceramic coated units:

From underneath:

The front bumper comes off next in order to install the Cargraphic screen kit:

You can see the correct mounting orientation for the screen kit which "sandwiches" between the shrouds and bumper:

The radiators are protected now:

Stock suspension is coming off (including the rear):

The TechArt Noselift cylinders installed in front:

Ready to go home:

Close up of the tips:

Meanwhile another 3.9L GT3 engine is being built:

And now she's ready to be put back into a crate/box to ship overseas:

A blue GT3? How hard can it be to find? Larry sells one at least every year ...

ps. That's a pretty funny sequence of photos ... just scrolling down, thinking "okay, techart bits on the suspension, exhaust, good, ... engine rebuild?! what?!

Alex how to you handle the overseas engine rebuilds?

You only need the engine and ECU ?

And since you are using a rolling dyno, do you just upload in the DME a generic file *copy of your original Green GT3's motronic?

What about if a customer already has a different exhaust or other modifications in the car. Can you install his engine in one of you cars to fine tune on the dyno?

Thanks!

disclaimer: This is just an hypothetical question and has nothing to do with the fact that If the Dollar vs Euro continue their affair, I might be tempted to pull the trigger and finally test for myself how many of these 500hp will make it over the Ocean. : )

Haha I was thinking the same thing. This car has yellow stitching, PCCBs just bloody good overall and but timing didn't work out for me and her

PS I just wanted to make sure you're paying attention and not just looking at pictures

Hey John well we did go over multiple scenarios as far as different grades of octane, heat/altitude ranges, our two different exhaust systems etc... so we actually have a full suite of files we select from As far as using different exhausts I'm just so against using any high-flow cats/headers as there's always going to be a CEL involved and possible loss in tq down low. We really like the way it performs with our set up so we just make sure we don't go off of the reservation and keep things exactly the same each time if that makes sense?

For overseas we absolutely recommend installing it in our car, running/breaking it in etc... and offer that as a solution too.

Dollar vs Euro kills us too

Thanks Alex that makes sense, and the fact that you test the engine in your car is great, I would also agree on the possibility of some loss of low end torque with a 100cell / large diameter exhaust depending on the specs but the CEL part is easy you can program the ECU to work without throwing a CEL even without cats. Tried it myself *in a 7.1 RS.

Anyway for the rest I will PM you, 1.45 is stuck in my mind : )

Both are great colors - but suprisingly - you don't see that many on the road.
