Dose of DE Reality
For those of you that DE without a proper roll bar.....this will make you think
I do not know the circumstances, or the driver just saw it on eBay

The speeds a GT3 enables you to travel at during a DE warrants proper saftey equipment.
I am considering a front cage in the RS

As much as you hate to see these posts they sure are a good reality check of what can end up happening out there. Thanks for the friendly reminder!

I believe the 997 has a simular roof support structure
In the past I have seen posts about the strenghth of the bodies in these cars............roll bars not necessary for DE.............cages that mount to the seat belt mounts in lieu of floor weleded plates are ok. I do not agree
I am not willing to take the risk......there is no redo

Randy, sadly I have seen quite a few rolled GT3s with the Tequipment roll bar. It did its job. Do you think Porsche would risk the liability? I agree though, roll bar, harness and hans for me too.

I see way too many people at DE's with no rollpver protection on GT3's.....just bling wheels and a fancy loud exhaust. That money shoudl have been spent on proper protection
For DE roll over protection is mandatory in my book....as well as proper seats and harness

Randy, since you got the clubsport rear bar for your RS, you can easily get the front section for it.. that would be quite a stout setup (if it is good enough for the 24 hours of N-ring...).. get the dual door bar setup, though.. !!

I consider this an educational post, so I 'll play.
Freak accident! I 've seen a couple of badly rolled 996's and none of them was in such a bad shape..
But I guess if the timing is "right" it can happen. I hope the driver got out unharmed somehow..
Early 911s were considerably more dangerous as the pillars were too thin and soft.
I have lost a friend in a 70s 911 from a roll over that even the cheapest of today's cars would have survived.
In any case I believe that a full roll cage should be standard in any sport car even today.
An integrated one properly padded and as far away from the passengers heads as possible would be ideal.
We are lucky that the GT cars (little more tricky for the US/Canada ones) have a factory solution for a proper full cage.
It is and will always be the first thing I would add together with the rear toe links..
