BBS Monoblock RE 2010 GT3 - Spring Clearance
Just bought a set of these bad boys from the owner of the white car in the pic that was doing the rounds way back when these first came out.
The rears will be fine on my car, but I'm nervous about the fronts. Heir Gissler at BBS motorsport assures me there will be no issues - they did the fitment themselves to this particular vehicle, but with the fronts in 9 x 19 and ET51, I calulate the current 6mm gap will close to 2mm from spring to the rim. Tyre interference won't be an issue as I'm not going up a size (sticking with 235) and the offset has only moved 2mm outboard.
Anyway, getting them run up for true first and then fitting checked. It's just I've seen on here that 47-49 is about right for a 9inch rim?
Anyway - I hope they fit, the deal was too good to pass up with tyres and TPMS included!!
More pics on this if they fit!!

I'm willing them to fit..
11.6kg off std wheels is getting on for a 70kg saved in sprung mass. Be nice to do a back to back.

Sadly I don't think they will fit.
I also have a 2010 GT3.....
I purchased a set of OZ ultralegarras from Tirerack. The rears were the stock offsets for the GT3, while the fronts were the GT3RS offsets (9x19). There was not much room at all between the stock wheel and the spring.....and very slightly less with the GT3RS wheel.
IMHO not enough room with a 51 offset.....GT3RS offset is 47mm......4mm closer.....too close for me.

LuckyP, BBS are usually pretty good with fitment... An ET51 in a 19x9 will be fine for ur car... You may get into trouble if you try to run aggresive front end alignments (mid 2+ cambers) but rotating struts may give you more room to play with. On a near factory alignment you will clear springs fine but may get slight rubbing on full lock.... Good luck, pricey but great looking wheels.

Yeah I was reading your thread entitled - "Warning and RECOMMENDATIONS-Offsets and rubbing-9" fronts on a 997.2 gt3"
That what made me post. It's gonna be tight!

I am a bit confused; the wheels are pictured on a 997.2 GT3 (steels) and it looks as though they are being fitted on a 997.2 GT3 (pccbs) so is your concern w.r.t any geometry changes as a result of the differences in caliper/brake technology? Otherwise surely they fit/clear?
Sorry if I am being a bit "thick" here ...

But you are assuming perhaps that because you SEE the wheel on the steel shod car, the wheel is fitted without fouling the spring, nor the liner on lock, nor the arch in compressed turns. I have been told this is the case, but I'd like to check for myself.
Don't introduce the complexity of the steels vs PCCB, I hadn't even thought of that!! Agghh
Fitment trial at Fearnsport week Saturday. Pics and outcome to post then.
